This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

It appears travel chaos is on the horizon looking at todays press release

"£60k upgrade to ageing gas mains in Kirkgate, Silsden

Northern Gas Networks is investing £60,000 to upgrade ageing metal gas mains in Kirkgate, Silsden.

The project is part of Northern Gas Network’s ongoing development of infrastructure across the north of England and will involve replacing more than 200 metres of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to our customers in the area for years to come."

Thing is I remember this from 2009

"Northern Gas Networks needs to carry
out essential work on important gas
mains in Silsden on; Keighley Road,
Kirkgate, Clog Bridge, Howden Road,
Albert Square, Hainsworth Road,
Banklands, Oak View and Cragg View.
The work will begin on the 6
th
of July and
is expected to take 18 weeks to complete.
The project involves replacing 1km of old
metal gas mains with a modern plastic
pipeline, which is safer and more reliable.
Once in use, the plastic pipeline will have
a lifespan of around 80 years."
