This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I am at it again!!!!! The old guy down Sykes Lane has been banned from keeping animals (telegraph and Argus) it sounds as though he has about 5 or six dogs who cry and and it is very upsetting. I am going to ring the RSPCA tuesday. Does anyone else get upset about this problem?

fatty....you are right to take action, no excuse for maltreating animals. Maybe he (if it is him again) should be locked up in a kennel for a few weeks to see what it is like for himself. Good luck with RSPCA.

my guess is that while this case is under appeal (as it was on 11th March), he can do as he pleases. No harm in informing the RSPCA, it can only add to their case.

The bloke also keeps a horse in a field up Skipton Rd (between Silsden and Kildwick) Who will take responsibility for this animal? Rarely visited and its getting old. Good luck with the RSPCA. Silsden folk have been trying for years to get them to do something.

Has anyone had "experiences" with the three Japanese Akita's in one of the houses backing onto he canal path?
I have witnessed the owner appear to make a hand signal for these dogs to goto the gate and bark when dog owners are about to pass. There was no effort to quieten the dogs by their owners when they bark scaring most to walk near to the edge of the path!

I think this issue was raised some time ago on the forum, don't know the outcome though. I must admit I am scared to walk past when they are in the garden, I feel it is an accident waiting to happen as they can easily be over the fence or gate.

They are an accident waiting to happen. I am even more angry that one of the owners provoked the dogs. Is this because they don't like people walking past? Are these the dogs that attacked a small dog on the footpath a year or two ago?

Let's hope this does not happen in Silsden

Hopefully the local dogs are better controlled

@fatty let's hope they get something done, ideally no animal should be so poorly looked after for one day withou taction, let alone months!

The akita's seem to only bark at other dogs, maybe dog aggressive (this would explain the claimed attack on another dog). Either way I'm avoiding with my dog just incase!

No, they barked ferociously at me and my daughter walking quietly along the towpath the other day, I recon they are just badly trained and aggressive. I blame the owners 100%.

Actually open viewed houses have less problems than those with a big privacy fence or hedge. If you cannot be seen then neither can someone up to no good.
