Topic : scary walks along canal tow path |
|
| gazzas sister |
hello I am interested to know if anyone else is experiencing shocks when walking in front of the new houses along the towpath? there are some big scary dogs and the barking is relentless |

Re. Scary dogs on the canalside: I read these comments with interest as I was visiting the area on holiday last week and also experienced these very threatening dogs from the new homes on the canal side (Proctor Homes) It ruined an otherwise very enjoyable walk with our own dog in your area. We were very surprised to find that the owners allow these dogs to c**p on the tow path without picking up. They are a disgrace to responsible dog owners. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) ahh the akitas yes i know they are there at the proctor homes and the owners in a pathetic voice saying stop that please does nothing neither does the 1/2 foot high metal fence on the right hand wall in my opinion they need a 4 foot high fence on top of there because they could be easily out if they wanted they are japanese fighting dogs after all im guessing there just warning people off as if they wanted to be over the wall they could be but i agree its still not good @I&A well said i personally always go out with 2 rolls of poop bags its especially bad if there letting them do it on the tow path right outside the house then not clearing it up |

@ Pumbajunior _ I am surprised a dog lover like you is trying the propaganda apporach of "japanese fighting dogs", a lot of dogs were bred to fight and kill but we have them in our homes. Remember tojudge dogs on deed not breed. I agree they are quite intimidating as they are big and muscular and the first time I walked down there and they were in the garden the scared me. I am notsure that the dogs or the owners are doing anything wrong with regards to the dogs leaning on the top of the wall and barking at passers by. A lot of dogs bark at passers by (mostly little terrier types). I guess the only thing that coulod be done is to contact the RSPCA, to have quiet word about a more secure fencing or about training to stop them barking. But they are not bad owners, the dogs are in great condition. Or maybe they could get a sign for their wall saying big noisy dogs live here. |

quoteWe in Silsden let dogs c**p wherever we feel it causes the most inconveniance to pedestrians. Especially like to let them do it outside peoples front gates on street corners where people have the nerve to want to walk! Gosh I thought all people did this? I bet in silsden we don't have one strret that doesn't have at least 1 pile of s*** in! |

i was just saying that is what they are just as daisy is a sight hound cross bull terrier yes the dogs look to be in good condition but i disagree with the pathetic half assed reprimand the dogs got when they scare people half to death if an elderly member of the public gets the same treatment they could be startled enough to fall and hurt themselvs badly technically the dogs are under control as they dont leave the garden but its still far from ideal |

quoteOur street doesn't on the pavement, but I wish I could catch the half-wit who lets their dog do it on peoples lawns! |

Well don't let on to these dog owners they might feel it's 1 too many without any! As for doing it in peoples gardens, that would be the fault of the people living there and not closing the gates properly wouldn't it? As quite obviously dogs can't open gates. |

I see this thread has deteriorated to a base subject close to peoples hearts - start a new topic on dog c**p if that is what you want to discuss BUT the subject here is dogs frightening canal path walkers. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) When walking past barking dogs regularly take dog biscuits. Feed dogs when they pause. They learn that being quiet means food. Dogs are greedy. On the TV show I got this off after a while something was added to the biscuits and entry was made to 'guarded' property. Not suggesting that this part is in the plan. Pavlov had it all worked out. Works with people to!!' '); |

Jesus Christ, stop moaning. I run past these dog's 4-5 times a week and have never had a problem. They jump up to the wall but never chase me, I get the odd bark but so what? |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) I am also in fear for my kids, dogs, and my life everytime I walk past these dogs. I do not mind agressive dogs as long as I know they can't get to me! The dogs in question look well able to jump over the wall (even with the new iron work that the owner has erected). When I walked past on Wednesday evening the dogs were distinctly more aggressive than usual. If the owners put a high fence up - one that the dogs could't jump over - I would be much happier. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) i am petrified to walk past these dogs they are so scary on saturday morning i witnessed them attack a small dog the lady owner of the dogs was taking them for a walk by herself using extendable leads an elderly lady was walking her small dog it was obvious the small dog was very scared then one of the scary dogs reared up and grabbed the small dog there was ear piercing screeches from the elderly lady and small dog the owner of the scary dogs pathetically tried to stop the fight she could hardly hold the leads they were pulling so hard she then carried on walking allowing the dogs to run on the extended lead walking back to her house through the mallards children were all running away crying and scared they were extremely threatening dogs i think its only a matter of time before a child is attacked |

If this did happen then I agree with Peter providing the police reporting info. They need to be put on the dangerous dogs list and monitored. Having read your report I am a bit reluctant to go down the bank now. |

thanks peter iv reported the dogs |

I can imagine how scary it must have been to see that, I hope the police take action before something serious happens |

perhaps someone should let the local papers know about this then an article can be printed so people will be aware there is a danger. Not everyone looks at this site so will be unaware of the problem.Where is the house? is it one of the brand new ones facing onto the canal? Hpefully the police will have taken some action. |

How do you know the local newspapers don't look at this forum? ![]() |

Silsden please be aware !!" www.silsden.net/forum/forumpics/Maul_Dog.pdf I have posted the article (link above) on behalf of I&A please read. Peter |

I am rather frightened now! Either me, my couson or my auntie usually take my couson's dog on walks past there-Oftenly alone. Our dog is, though almost old, she is very lively and she thinks every dog wants to play. I wouldn't be bale to stop a dog fight!!! |
