Topic : Road End Cafe |
|
| gazzer |
Am I right in saying the road end off shop is to be a cafe. I thought one of the reasons they got planning permission was it would be a takeaway so it got away with only needing limited parking*.Now people will park up to sit in and eat. *Even then they claimed 3 public car parks nearby although Silsden only has 2 public car parks. Think they were claiming Punch Car park as public. |

Maybe I'm too trusting but surely people will not park outside the cafe on double yellow lines while they eat. I think the concern re people parking to pick up their takeaway was valid as (too many) people do tend to think it's Ok to stop on double yellow lines for a couple of minutes. I personally don't think it will last long as a cafe, look at number 55, I thought that was a nice looking cafe and I have no reason to believe the owners ran it badly but still it didn't have enough trade, in what I consider a better location. I wish the new cafe all the best but I doubt it will last. |

It is a bit deceiving! It says cafe and then underneath it says INDIAN TAKEAWAY, like we needed another one of those! |

I suspect it is a loophole in the planning system,I bet it will become a takeaway !! The planning system is full of loopholes and needs tightening up. |

new cafe is up Brigate not the road end. |

quotenew cafe is up Brigate not the road end. That's another new cafe... not the one this topic is about. The sign has just gone up on the Indian / cafe / takeaway ???? (where the off-licence used to be). |

its a take away not a cafe as for parking why do you need it people with cars have no need to drive to the take away as they do free home delivery so why drive there? when they will bring it to your door step any way it might be good curry and if it is I will use it |
|
| gazzer |
It says "Cafe" over the door.Strange name for a takeaway. I notice that vehicles used for deliveries at existing takeaways are often parked illegally. |

I can't believe that for a second. I also can't believe what a struggle to get out of Bradley road with two cars parked on the left near(on) the junction and one to the right of the junction on Skipton Road blocking the view to the right! |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Whilst I wish all businesses in town well and hope they prosper, I will take down registration numbers of anyone is see parked outside the cafe/takeaway, it's double yellow lines and dangerous. |

Why do we need a 4th curry house?? There are many takeaways and restaurants in Silsden... Is this the same owners as the fruit and veg shop next door I wonder? |
|
| localman |
we need curry shops because there are no fish and chip shops open at night plus we have a taste for curry and most women work full time so have no time to cook |
|
| Golden Oldie |
No time to cook or lacking in skills? Having worked full time for most of my adult life, I cannot believe any wife and/or mother would prefer to feed her family junk food. We have freezers to be able to double up on things like casseroles, homemade chilli, curry, and such. A pan of vegetables, rice or pasta isn't rocket science, and only takes the time it would take to go to the take out. Also, much healthier. |
|
| jbrare |
I couldn't agree more with the double up on portions to freeze. We don't buy micro rubbish. I suppose it has its place but not as a staple food for growing kids, or adults for that matter. True about the fish shops though!!! LOL |

just another thought, look at the council website scoresonthedoors. It shows what rating all food establishments have been awarded by environmental health.I have not looked for a while but last time I did, one of the most popular places in silsden had a poor hygene rating!! |
|

agreed on extras in feezer made fruit cumbles (7) at weekend to freeze also bannana custard ice cream made home made pork stroganoff for tea tonight too |

Just been in to the new 'cafe' up Briggate. Great coffee, smashing cakes, helpful staff. Good luck to a new business in Silsden. Hear the owner of Cafe 55 has moved to France. |
|
| pumbajunior |
shame about 55 the food was great and resonably priced the staff were always friendly aswell i think Chris made a mistake taking some items off the menu due to the credit crunch (breakfast items like different cheeses salamis etc) just ended up with a slightly posh sausage or bacon butty and if you want a bacon or sausage butty you go to a greasy spoon cafe or a bakers (there again i dont know how the business was going before that anyway good luck to him and all the staff who worked there |

look you can cook and freeze all the food you like but kids today just turn there noses up at it and then out come the words can we have a curry take away not homemade mum, or we love pizza from the take away and last but not least we hate frozen food from the freezer its horrible. Loads of kids will not eat school dinners were do they go well go up crosshills at dinner time the take aways are packed so much for meat and two veg. |
|
| ginjo |
so the kids get their own way? parents are in charge and are responsible for their kids upbringing, its time adults took charge again there is too much "giving in" for an easy life. Sorry probably a bit off topic now.I will shut up |
|
| pumbajunior |
nope gingo i agree we were told as kids eat that or you go hungry theres only so much you can turn your nose up at if your very hungry you will eat it on the take away side i make my own pizzas and currys and most of the time there certainly as good as if not better than the take aways |
|
| roosterman |
and dont forget,if you dare leave anything at dinnertime,it was there for you at tea time, and if you dont eat your dinner theres no pudding |
|
| grublover |
I wish them luck as the building owners may need it. The attached fruit and veg shop they also own doesn't seem to have a roaring trade. People need to have takeaways in moderation. A treat now and then and the chance to burn it off won't do anybody any harm. We as a nation have had bakers (like Greggs) and takeaways (like fish and chips) for years. These are no different- just competition. |
|
| localman |
why dont we give our kids jam and bread, start beating them again, put them up chimneys, make them leave school at 12,whatch the die of numerous diseases, send them into world wars ah the good old days. Please note people live longer now and we eat junk food so much for home cooking![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) And I thought it was all down to having the N.H.S and modern medicine that keeps us oldies creeking at the gate.!!!!! Oh, and I do prefer home cooking, at least I know MY kitchen is clean. |
|
| jonno |
and now as a nation we are more obese than ever before. we went to the cinema the other week, kids and wife all took chocolate with them to save money, I tokk carrot sticks, yum, and I didn't feel sick as a parrot like the kids did for scoffing the lot! having said that, the odd take-away now and again never hurt anybody. |
