IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : The Town Council are clueless |
|
jojo |
Following the debate last week about the holes in the pavement at the bottom of Kirkgate and on Clogg Bridge it is obvious Silsden Town Council didn't have a clue what was going on and why the holes where being dug! www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=610 Unless it is an emergency (and this wasn't) then contractors have to get permission to dig up roads, don't they? The permission is given by the local authority, in this case by BradMet. Assuming permission was given why wasn't our Town Council informed of the work, this is not the first time our councillors have been clueless! So our Town Council are not informed about road works in our town which may bring the place to a standstill! What are Silsden Town Council doing about making sure they are informed about such events in the future? |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) object to the word clueless jojo...uninformed yes,but surely not clueless.fyi the town council contacted district councillors who are shall we say slightly less clueless! unless I missed it jojo i did'nt see any mention of the works in the local press, and are'nt the public supposed to be warned of it too! |

Shouldn't the STC be contacted as a matter of courtesy when something which will affect traffic is planned. Do Bradford ever talk to STC? Surely it's just an email to the town clerk. From past experience Bradford do not inform STC of any work so shouldn't the town council be making contact with the relevant Bradford department to ensure they are kept informed in the future? |

I agree jojo that it would be beneficial to inform stc of any prior works, I believe it is legal however to publish these works( as oppose to just being beneficial) and unless I missed it,it was not published.if stc had known about them, what do you think would have been the best way to inform silsden about them? |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) They are published on the internet. It takes 30 seconds to get the information IF anyone can be bothered! Probably not, because there's a lot more sport sniping at the TC! Was it really such a burning issue in Silsden? NO I am not going to publish the websites, look for them! You can do it faster than putting a post on here! Topic closed, no more comments from me ![]() |

thankyou peter that's useful. and just a wee note in defence of stc. no they're not perfect they're human after all,but they work very hard FOR the people of silsden, volunteering ( yes they are all volunteers) an awful lot of their time to improve silsden for everyone. They deserve your support. |
