IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Video to DVD |

My elderly father has given me some family videos which were made from cinefilm in the 1960s - 1970s. I would now like to have the videos made into DVDs for him. Does anybody know somebody local who does this service please? |

If you take them to Twiggs Newsagents they can send off for conversion to DVD. |

I think you'll find we are talking about super 8 film , it's not possible to convert without the proper equipment, best leave this one to the experts. |

Apologies for creating confusion. My father filmed family occasions in the 1960s -70s on cinefilm, and years later had them created as VHS videos. I would now like to get the videos made into DVDS in order to distribute around the family. Yes, I would prefer it to be done by somebody who knows what they are doing as they are precious to us. I note the reply re Twiggs service thankyou. Would prefer not to send them away but may have to reconsider. |

If you have the original 8mm film it would be better to convert that to DVD because the quality would be much better. There is always a loss of quality when analogue media is converted from one format to another. If you don't have the option then the following old topics on this forum may be of use: x-ref www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=2664 x-ref www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=3511 |

Thanks for that Happywalker, & Peter, converting from VHS is not difficult as long as you have the players that will link together, ie VHS player/recorder & DVD player/ recorder. |

Thankyou everybody. I like to support local business and so have just returned from Computer Universe as recommended. To put 3 hour VHS video onto DVD is £5 which I think is very reasonable. |
