IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : The railway line from Addingham to Colne via Silsden |

DID YOU KNOW In 1886 a railway line was planned from Addingham to Colne via Silsden, Cross Hills and Cowling to include a branch line to Lothersdale. It was never built. Attached are the plans for the Silsden area. SEE THE PLANS www.silsden.net/forum/forumpics/SilsdenRailway_1886.pdf |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) a group has got together called selrap getting funds to reopen the skipton to colne line which would be good for getting to lancs and a shorter route for man airport, last train ran feb 1st 1970, and is only 11.5 miles long so it should be feasable to reopen it. |

That would be handy for getting to Burnley From Silsden station. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) theres even a freight line from hellifield to blackburn if they opened that up to passenger trains it would still be quicker than going round bfd way to burnley or leeds way round to manchester or the airport etc. |
