Can anyone tell us where Christopher Snell is "allowed" to sail his model boat? - or has Keighley Model Engineering Society got all the possible locations sewn up?
(see the Keighley News story "Sunk by the Law")

Pity the police have no other priorities than to harrass a youngster with a harmless hobby!
My 84 year old mother was recently robbed in Keighley town centre in daylight. Needless to say the police didn't bother to turn up merely give her a crime number over the phone!
Shows where the priorities are, better to be a harrassed duck in Keighley you get more attention! |

If you read all the article Mr Snell and his son were sailing a boat (which made a noise) on a Sunday when Bradford Council said: "Only Keighley Model Engineering Society members can sail model boats on the tarn between 10am and 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for up to five hours a day and on Saturdays between 10am and 6pm, again for up to five hours."
The tarn is a very popular on a Sunday and perhaps the rules are to let visitors enjoy the tarn in the peace and tranquilty it deserves.
I think the "Only Keighley Model Engineering Society members" bit of the statement can probably be ignored, but perhaps the real problem is the sign stating when model boats can be sailed on the tarn IS MISSING and should be restored. |

"Fred" is it really a police issue? I think not, and that's the point!
Especially with all the other things that go on at the tarn after dark!
What impression has it left on the kids? A real public relations win for Keighley Police! |

"The officer said ... felt he had to inform us of the complaint and ask us to be more considerate."
This doesn't seem unreasonable to me for a police response to a complaint by a member of the public. The person making the call to the police perhaps should have asked Mr Snell not to scare the ducks themselves but in the age of the mobile phone and people not wanting to become involved this is the situation you get.
And what did Mr Snell do .... he went to the Keighley News! |

"Fred" you are still missing the point!
The police don't bother to turn up for REAL crime, why turn up for a child sailing a boat? Is Sunday the ducks day of rest?
Good on Mr Snell going to the Keighley News I say.
Surely the real issue is that letting children like Mr Snells use the facilities of the tarn would be more use than restricting it to some model club! Then the police can concentrate on real crime, if they can remember how to do that! |

You could always play complaint tennis, and complain about people who are complaining about people enjoying themselves, just to see if the officer "feels he has to inform" the original complainer of that complaint, and the whole world could waste even more police time with petty complaints going backwards and forwards rather than serious issues (too many to list) that the Keighley/Silsden area is currently facing.

You got it "MATTSKI" that way they don't have to deal with real crime and fill in all those nasty forms! All they need to do with rel crime is give people a crime number when they phone up and file the bit of paper! And that's what Silsden pays over £250k a year for! Good innit! |

I believe that the police did the right thing!
I mean a boy scaring ducks is a lot more important and worthy of police time than dealing with serious crime (I mean drugs, theft etc, not scaring pigeons in Keighley torn centre).
Anyway at least we know Keighley Police can respond fast to a crime as long as they don't have any paper work to fill out.
PS. I'll giveway to you when you pull out of McDonalds at Lunch (yeah right) |

Who are these people who complain about kids with toy guns and model boats?
I think complaints tennis is a good idea. Clogging a system up is certainly one way of demonstrating weaknesses. |

Cool so if a kid plays with toys the police are there!
But if you get mugged they don't care!
It's funny how different Skipton and Keighley Police are! |
