This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I can't remember there being one since I was elected, and that is so far back even I can't remember just when it was, I think it was early eighties.
Not sure what the point you are trying to get at is? The only reason there hasn't been any elections is because there was not enough candidates standing so the ones that did got in unopposed, there was nothing untoward going on.

grandad I just found it hard to accept the Silsden Town statement when it said it was from your elected representatives, when as you say there has been no elections for twenty years or more.It would be interesting to know just who on the Town Council has actually been up for election

Victor you're flogging a dead horse here.

You know there were not enough candidates to fill all the seats so those who were put forward and seconded were unopposed.

If you don't like it put yourself forward.

Time to give this subject a rest...not possible to vote if candidates don't stand against each other..would be nice if there were enough people interested, but there aren't...so that's that! happy :)
And I did enjoy the Olympics ceremony last night happy :) Sorry, Peter, just trying to change the subject!

I understand your point of principal but there are a set number of councillors to make "The Council". There has not been a "full" council for a number of years so there has been no need to hold elections. The Mayor is elected annually and members of the public I believe can attend the council meeting and participate in the vote (if they are a resident of Silsden).

If you require information as to when Silsden Council had enough potential council candidates to require an election I suggest you contact the Town Clerk.

Contact details here:
www.silsden.net/town_council/docs_12/12_notice/COUNCIL_DATES_july2012-13.pdf

I think it is unfair to request such information through this forum when there is a formal, and correct, way to request such information.
