IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. this post has been edited 1 time(s) Lola, I suspect anybody who works in the IT profession would rather not be called a geek. Furthermore, I suspect what you are referring to is the removal of a key from your computers registry, perhaps so you could re-install some software to reinitiate an evaluation period which would be a breach of the end user license agreement. I suggest that you contact the vendor of the software which you wish to use and request that they provide you with a legitimate license key for the appropriate fee!!! Editing your computers registry could potentially be harmful to your computer and should not be undertaken by amateurs. Did your son-in-law come up with any useful suggestions? |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) You'll think I'm kidding you here but I'm not. Try www.magicaljellybean.com they have free software that can tell you what the product key is for various software that you have installed, mainly MS software. If you want to remove a key from the registry that has been left after uninstalling software I'd suggest not bothering. Registry editing is not for the faint hearted and can really screw up your Windows installation. |
