Any body else having problems with insurance paying out for replacing storm damage panels. Mine is happy to pay for replacing the panels but the trim that has to be removed and possible break is a no no i would need to pay for this myself plus the assess and anything else ie seals that my have gone through age too.
The insurance sent someone from a company in Harrogate who will replace the panels and charge me a further £400 if the trims need replacing which you can be sure they will. Now been told i can get a local firm to do it has long has it dont excite the amount quoted to them so on the look out now for small local firm who can replace and hopfully do the trims too

Tell them you will employ a loss assessor* and charge them if you are successful.

Not to be confused with a loss adjuster who would be working for the insurance company

My conservatory roof had holes in all nine panels, the insurance surveyor made an initial offer before we had any quotes and it was too low by quite a margin.
We sent two quotes to them and the have paid up with no problem, I need a complete new roof which includes everything above the side windows, ie all the panels roof spars trims and new guttering etc.
It will be impossible to replace the panels without causing further damage to the trims.

I would go back to your insurance company and without being abusive make your point very firmly, and they will probably adjust the figure they offer you, to cover the complete repair.

I ended up giving Andrew Clark the job by the way, he was £1000 less than another firm based in Ilkley !!.
