hopefully someone who knows how to run a pub, it used to be a good pub with good real ale and being next to the canal could benefit from tourists on canal boats

It has a note in the front window saying a building company has aquired it, which means an application going in for yet more bedsits or flats I am guessing. Like we don't have enough in that row already.

Use it or lose, and if no one is using a pub then another use needs to be found.

There is no doubt that there is a lot of potential in that place as a pub with its location on the canal bank and the passing trade from people on boats, cyclists and walkers. But the previous owners did not release the potential from the place. I live within view of the Bridge Inn in fact I can see the beer garden from my house and the beer garden and the exterior of the building were enough to put anyone off visiting. Also the erratic opening hours were quite unhelpful for attracting any regular trade. I would like to see it being used as a pub or a canal side bar/cafe/restaurant rather than being used for reisdential use but the place needs a lot of work to get it going again.

This is true you could probably have parking for 4 cars in the bee garden, and I beleive the property also comes with a couple of spaces which are already there as the previous occupants used these for parking.

I have noticed that the building company are on site this morning, presumably if they wanted to change the use to residential they would require planning permission?

I think the beer garden belongs to British Waterways and the landlord had to fight hard to be allowed to make it a beer garden.
The estate agency claim 3 parking places only + sitting out area, which I think BW own

Going from memory, it's a listed building, it can only be used for the licensed trade.

In the right hands, the place should be a gold mine!

It doesn't need the town council to check, you can check yourself on-line and it isn't listed.

The nearest listed "buildings" are Waterloo Mills, the aqua-duct, Pennine Boats warehouse, Shuttleworth's workshop and 9,11,13,and 15 St John's Street.

so does this mean then it could be turned into anything if planning permission goes through. The people who have bought it are sure ripping it apart at moment

As I understand it under the current planning regulations the Bridge is currently classed as licensed premises (A4) it can only be used for the following (without applying for change of use)
A1=Shops
(.Retail sale of goods other than hot food
• Post office
• Sale of tickets or as a travel agency
• Sale of sandwiches or other cold food - consumption off the premises
• Hairdressing
• Direction of funerals
• Display of goods for sale
• Hiring shops
• Dry Cleaners,
• Reception of goods to be washed, cleaned or repaired
• Internet café
A2=Financial and professional services
• Financial services
• Professional services (other than health or medical services)
• Any other services (including use as a betting office)
or A3=Restaurants and cafes
Use for the sale of food and drink for
consumption on the premises.

If the new owners wish to make it into something other than the above (e.g.residential or a brothel I believe they will have to have apply to the council for change of use). However I would think that this only applies to the main pub building and not the add on's,that is the street level and the lower level B & B rooms.

A Brothel? If they can't make a living by selling beer, how the hell will they by selling soup?

We will also be back to blocked drains on Keighley Road again as they couldn't cope with the usage from the pub let alone from all those extra kitchens and bathrooms that will be installed.

Some planning in Silsden seems from an outsider as if some dodgy deal has been done. Not saying it is just seems so.
Start work.....apply for more than you want.....then get a slightly reduced scheme passed.

If you search under the application number 12/02020/FUL

I still have the number from putting in an objection when I saw the notice on the front of the building.

Looks like they submitted revised drawing after the orginal approval date had expired as the expiry date for objections was 21st June and the revised documents are dated after this date

The amendement has changed it to 3 flats and a cottage. For those who do not know the orginal application was for 5 flats

so who is the mystery person behind this development, on the planning decision the name has been left blank. Not sure where the railings are meant to be going at the front, can't really imagine it.Will they be to buy or are they rental?

Parking is becoming more of an issue especially with the Sykes Lane / Harran Homes development. How many more accesses are going to join the road? One for the bridge pub, one for the Harran homes site, one for the rest of Sykes Lane, one for the super market etc

The new flats and cottage at the Bridge Pub will be using the ginnel between the houses to come in and out of, there are already about 4 vehicles park behind there which belong to the residents of the houses. I know myself how tight it is coming out so more traffic would not be ideal.
