Long term period of traffic disruption from Monday 30th September (First published Thursday 26th September) This is an interim newsletter to advise you that we are about to enter into a long period of traffic disruption.
Lane closures on A629 approaching and leaving Beechcliffe Roundabout for several months Following the construction of the new inner lane of Beechcliffe Roundabout we now move onto the realignment of the central reservation of the A629.
The works include new carriageway construction, replacement crash barrier, ducts and duct chambers for street lighting and traffic signals, new street lighting columns and traffic signal poles and signage.
The central reservation is to be made narrower and realigned in order to introduce a third lane approaching Beechcliffe Roundabout, taking advantage of the widened Hard Ings Road to reduce long term traffic congestion.
In order to protect our workforce and get deliveries and plant and equipment safely into and out of the area we need to close the traffic lanes either side of the central reservation. Due to the nature of the work required it is not possible to carry out this work 'off peak' or at night.
Following the central reservation work we will then move onto work to the verge on the A629 approach to Beechcliife Roundabout which again will require lane closures.
To take advantage of the temporary traffic management system we will also soon be working on the adjacent central reservation on Hard Ings Road and the traffic island to the west of the roundabout.
The lane closures will be put in place in the early hours of Monday morning.
This period of work is likely to take several months. The A629 lane closures will cause traffic disruption in the area, especially at peak times.
We would advise you to take alternative routes if possible and also allow extra time for your journeys, both at peak times and throughout the day.
Please bare with us during this period of increased traffic disruption, necessary for the resulting long term improvements to your road network. |
