Bins this time. And to think I can remember when the bin man used to carry your bin from your house. Then it was the introduction of bin liners, followed by wheelie bins. Then you had to start sorting your rubbish.Pretty soon we will be taking it to the tip ourselves. www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/13709352.Bins_collections_could_go_fortnightly__Bradford_Council_reveals/ |

Due to sorting of the rubbish we only put our main waste out once a fortnight anyway so makes sense to me.. Of course through my council tax I pay for weekly collections, but I bet we don't get a reduction to reflect this cost saving. |

Fair play to you. With a family of 4 we still need weekly collections |

There is no such thing as a free lunch. People do not want to pay rates. They then vote in a Tory government that does all it can to keep the rates down. They then complain about declining services. Rates are much lower in Spain. Bins are all communal and are parked in the road. They are emptied most nights. Maybe we should go down the US route and have local votes on the services, methods and costs. |

The "Tory" Government provided a fund of £250m for councils to protect weekly collections but only one council, Stoke on Trent applied for funding. You have wonder why something that began whilst Labour was in Government carries on under Labour councils. The only assumption is that it is Labour Party policy |

Blaming Tory cuts on Labour. Is that Tory policy? Always blame Labour. |

IF the rich Tories paid their share of tax we wouldn't be in the position! |

Let's hope Brad, Met, don't follow the increasing numbers of councils that are gearing up for "pay as you throw" rubbish charges by installing microchips in wheelie bins.Former Prime Minister Tony Blair first raised the prospect of councils charging extra to those households putting out the most waste. |

I had to phone the council tax office this morning. Usual automated answer service, which told me that I was in a queue, with 6 people before me. I queued for over half an hour, before being answered by a Pakistani adviser, who as good as laughed, saying "It's alright. We are busy!" The air very rapidly turned blue. I pointed out, in no uncertain terms, that it is not bloody well alright to be held in a queue for this length of time, to sort out a cock up that they had made! If queue times are frequently this long, there is clearly a requirement to take more staff on, or contract work out? Perhaps reduce the number of bailiff calls they are making and adopt some common sense? (Judging from recent T&A reports). |

quoteIF the rich Tories paid their share of tax we wouldn't be in the position! If you said if everybody, person or company paid their fair share I would agree.I blame the Tories,Lib-Dems and Labour for not making this happen when in power. |

Again thats good. We are four adults who work odd times, never get the chance of family meals so often eat different things at different times which means extra waste. But it should be upto people to choose if they want to put their bin out every week. I do not think the plan is to have less waste..just less binmen |

And saving a bit of the planet... When we buy goods we are paying for the waste, I'm not trying to preach but we all need to take some responsibility Sorry |

A sign at the tip claims 73% is recycled.Mind you back in the old days there was less packaging and things like pop and milk bottles were re-used. |

I know 30 years ago recycling was in heard of, I remember a big thing when blue peter collected aluminium cans for their appeal. I'm sure the blue peter appeals made people remember there was money to be made from rubbish and recycling boomed, the local scout group used to do paper collection once a month to fund them! Packaging has got a lot worse, but nowa lot of it is recyclable. Easter eggs are a good example they used to be loads of plastic and foil and card, now they have no plastic and all the foil and card is recyclable!! |
