IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : new takeaway |
|
| ginjo |
It looks like a new takeaway is opening at bottom of bolton road, I thought that planning permission was refused for fast food takeaways?? so what happened to pearlz cafe that never opened? seems a bit fishy to me |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) I notice that too. But then when I drove past it at 6 this morning it was lit up so bright I could hardly miss it. I am also wondering if they planning permission for huge illuminated shop signs. I am guessing it is the same owner as the elusive Pearlz Cafe (and Indian Takeway) and they thought they could sneak in under the radar with a new business. Not likley with a sign that would look better in Las Vegas than Silsden. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) The original planning application is 08/03637/COU Change of use from off licence/newsagent to hot food take away 1 - 5 Bolton Road Silsden BD20 0JY See the application here www.planning4bradford.com/online-applications/ (you may have to register and login to see anything) There is a footnote on the last document which states: advertisement consent may be needed for any external signs on the building. ![]() ![]() this obviously doesn't apply for firework banners. |

welcome to the new chicago hut saves walk down town, serving upper silsden about time we had more than a chinese and thai takeaway at top of town and will save skippy the walk down |
|
| jonno |
hmmm, I hope that most of their customers decide to walk or have delivery rather than parking just outside on the yellow lines, which you know people will do if they are "just nipping in to pick up an order". |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) and look on the bright side ,,,it got the 4 fireworks for sale banners down and poss most folk will park in the council owned(i think) bottom part of the punch car park. |
|
| ginjo |
in the planning consent it states that consent is neede for signage, I don't know whether they have obtained this or not, maybe skippy knows? The permission also stated that the premises can only open between 12 noon and midnight, so no reason for an illuminated sign to be on at 6am unless they were testing it! |

A takeaway that never opened , then a name change makes me highly suspicious of money laundering ?? |

and if we are getting all conspiracy theory..... isn't it weird that a new poster has posted that? almost as though it could be a competitor trying to put down the opposition..... surely not! Surely if you suspected that you would take it to the police and not post it on a message board? |
|
| tetleydrinker |
Surely as long as everything is above board, it is better to have the shop occupied and trading, rather than closed and scruffy looking. We have enough empty shops and buildings in Silsden at least 2 on Briggate and the Little Ava Rose Hamilton shop on Kirgate is now empty and up for rent as will be Barclays Bank next month. |
|
| ginjo |
any one know if its open yet? I agree better to have shops that are open but we do have rather a lot of takeaways, it would be nice to see something different.I have been trying to find out results of the survey done about shopping habits, I e-mailed the group who set it up but never got any reply.Does any one else know whats happening with it |

Planning permision The hot food takeaway shall not open for customers outside the hours of 12-00noon to 12-00 midnight. No customers shall be permitted to make use of the premises outside the permitted hours. Hours of opening on the menu that just come through the door; Mon-Thur 4-30pm til 12am Fri-Sat 4-30pm til late Sun 4-30pm til 12am. |
|
| ginjo |
they are not allowed to open after midnight and that is every day including friday and saturday so maybe they need to change their leaflets |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) They will get away with it. The whole planning process was a farce. In answer to parking outside the shop the applicant said no problem as there are 3 public car parks nearby. The planners didnt even bother to see that there are only 2(Bridge St and Wesley Pl) car parks in Silsden. The council never explained why it said planning had been granted in the Keighley News before the planning meeting. It also says "A new litter bin for use by customers shall be sited in the position shown on the approved drawings prior to the hot food takeaway hereby approved, opening for business" |

They give planning permission for this without even looking?????????????? and yet an upstanding pillar of the Silsden community cant get permission to extend his home without putting up a fight. Not even the neighbours objected. But the PLANNERS still turned him down. Brown enverlopes????????????? |

Wonder if the "new litter bin" will get used!!!!! Not much evidence of others being used. Yet more litter on the streets. |

Of those making the decision on the takeaway Cllr Mallinson spoke on behalf of the applicant along with two others, whilst Cllr Greaves voted against and Cllr Shamin Akhtar had expressed a personal interest in the item. |

Despite the planning issues, has anybody tried the new takeaway ? |
|
| ginjo |
I don't think its open yet, when I have passed it does not look finished inside yet and windows are still smeared up.I would imagine it will be soon as menus have been delivered. |
|
| dogcatcher |
was open on 3rd as went in for a menu |
|

had a lovely curry from the new curry house was the best i have had in a long time and you get so much , price is good to will be using this takeaway in future |
|
| gazzer |
Its open and as expected it stays open after midnight, the staff park a car on the footpath(where the bin should be) and cars park outside the shop on both sides of Bolton Rd where the yellow lines are. I hope when the the first crash happens at the junction with Bell Sq nobody gets hurt. |
|

enforcement officer needs to be told and maybe our local councillor who voted in favour should go and have a word with them ! |

Well said Localman... This website is full of old moaners who have nothing better to do. I had a curry on Saturday and it was very good, my friend had a pizza and said it was excellent. I do hope you wingers will just give it a chance. Support this business and make this takeaway successful. Its not easy starting up a business, at least they have the guts to put money into the project and provide us cobbydalers with a service. |

It has planning permission so no reason to for them not to make a go of it. As long as like the rest of us it abides by the rules laid down |

quoteIts not easy starting up a business, at least they have the guts to put money into the project and provide us cobbydalers with a service. hmmm... of course they are doing it for the good of the community, not for a profit, because we were sorely in need of a takeaway, not having any already. How many jobs have they created for Silsdeners I wonder? I'll give you a clue, it rhymes with Nero |

| localman |
how many local people know how to make true curries for once just shut up moaning |
|

this post has been edited 1 time(s) quotewith you set of old moaners bet half of you were not even born in silsden Anyone under 50 would have been born up Fell Lane in Keighley or Airedale hospital whatever that has to do with it.Having lived at the same Silsden house for all my 47 years and worked at the same Silsden firm for 31 years do I fit your criteria for expressing my opinion? Personally its a forum everyone is allowed an opinion even if it is one that planning regulations should not be observed or an accident will happen by Bell Sq but its ok aslong as certain people can have a curry!! |
|
| jonno |
quotehow many local people know how to make true curries for once just shut up moaning Ah, good so you accept my point then that the takeaway probably hasn't created any employment for local people. Or were you just going to ignore that point? As for "True Curries" (cue heavenly music, lol), you think takeaways make curries from scratch then? Don't make me laugh! And why don't you take your own advice and shut up moaning about other people's posts, you're getting very boring and I'm tired of parsing your incoherent un-punctuated ramblings. Say something worth-while occasionally, please. |

I'm wondering if planning consent for the large illuminated signs outside the shop was given to cover up the existing Bolton road street sign. |
|
| jonno |
lol, don't tell me they've covered up the street sign! These are maintained by the local authority (on adopted roads) and I'm pretty sure there will be at least a by-law against interfering with them. What plonkers! |
