As stated in previous threads the wesley Place car park has been halfed because of the forcoming culvert work so parking in Sils is at a premium .It wont be long before we need a Park n Ride .What do you lot think

not sure who the "offcum'd un" comment was aimed at but just as a point of clarity I AM a cobbydaler(3rd generation)and both my dad and i were brought up to view "OUR" home as a village!!! Ok we have a town hall but in the heart does that make us a town? If we are a town then what does that make Keighley? A city? This is just playing on words

i think of it as a village not because i think of it as a pokey village

but i think of it as the idillic village life that most people want freindly people everyone helping each other out (which is why i moved here)

as i said to bob t the other day i know more people here in 2 years than i knew in the 12 years i lived in eldwick

To get back to the original question: Wherever Taxi's park up there will be complaints, Take Keighley Railway Stn (please). Central Taxi's dominate the forecourt in an evening, the drop awf zone is often completely blocked. Silsden Taxis provide a very good reliable service, perhaps our councillors should look into a designated parking place for them.

Yea, I use them so much and they always seem to be cheaper than the other taxi services around, they need somewhere to go

I take it you have never used them late at night. Many a time after 1/2 wait at Steeton station I have given up and walked home in the rain.I was once there and after 1/4 of an hour someone borrowed my phone and called them even though they knew how long I had waited.10 minutes later their taxi came leaving me waiting.I only use them now if i'm desperate.
You cant have a place for them because they are private hire. The space outside the Con Club was for "rank" taxis.

I have a big problem with the taxis using the car park. It's surely there for the general public to use not for a business to monopolise. If it was owned by a local shop for their customers (for example) would the taxis just use it because there were spaces free? They might but the owner would rightly object and maybe clamp them!

I see no difference just because it's owned by the council. It's a public car park for the public to use, not for a business to freeload on.

Think they're allowed up to five spaces, BUT I am fairly sure that they can park there ONLY under the same conditions as the normal motorists, i.e. they have to pay if appropriate.

let`s stop wittering about who is parked in the car park think of the problems for traffic if the taxi`s are left on the road you can not get 2 cars up or down skipton road most times so these taxis are trying to keep the roads clear.

I don't think you're being fair to say it's wittering when people see something that doesn't seem right and they speak up about it.

Just because parking near the bottom of Skipton road is bad doesn't justify the taxis using the car park. I do take your point though and if they did park on the road it could make the situation worse, possibly, or it might make it better. How many of the cars parked on the road stay there for longer than the taxis would?

I just think if the taxis are using the car park as a base for their business vehicles they should pay for it.
