- don't you just love those pretty RYG lights outside the sports ground next to that hole they've dug?

- isn't wonderful how it can back up the traffic back to the trunk road roundabout and then back towards Skipton almost as far as the Kildwick roundabout (and probably just as far from the Keighley direction)...

- such wonderful planning & organisation, to think up a way to cause such major congestion just with one temporary traffic light to go round a 20 foot stretch of roadworks...

- What do you think?

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone dug up the newly re surfaced section of road, I'll give it 2 months of traffic and winter weather before it starts to sag, turn into a pot hole and become uneven again. Why do people bother re surfacing in the first place!!!!

I would presume that it is the services connections for the pavilions.

The statutory authorities doing these connections have a legal duty to ensure that they are permanently reinstated to an acceptable standard. If not the highway authority is able to make them comply!

In other words if anyone is not happy complain to Bradford Highways to make the statutory authorites do it!

Quite right Alan - Just needed to vent my spleen ! Having queued through the impromptu roadworks in Crosshills, and found myself and 100's of other poor souls parked up half way on the bypass - for a hole - beggared belief. Where do they find these idiots !

I queued in it for twenty minutes last night, then when I got home I got a phone call from my teenage daughter to tell me she was stuck at the station because Jacksons buses weren't stopping there!

I told her it would take me at least twenty mins to get there so she walked home. I wasn't impressed, much less this morning when the traffic was backed up as far as I could see up Bolton Road!

When Bradford did the bridge works at the river the had someone in attendance to ensure the bypass did not get blocked.

I'll have to censor my further comments!!!

Why traffic lights?

Has a mini roundabout been considered?

I seem to remember in the days before the Tories were in power in Bradford that Cllr Waddington promised that as soon as they were in power we would have a roundabout there and that they would do away with the balls!

MMMmmmmmmmmmmm................... what b***s!

Mini roundabouts just need a spot of paint in the road and a bit of signage, the ball could be left where they are.

A mini roundabout would slow the traffic down and more importantly keep the traffic moving.

The ball were put there to allow lorries an access view to get onto Keighley Road. Not many lorries need access at the moment but I'm sure the factory buildings will be used again at some time.

Mini roundabout are just that, not a feature to make U-turns round. It just needs a pot of paint, you can drive over most mini roundabouts.

Down South they are everywhere but in this part of the world we seem to need traffic lights. sad :(

if its anything like the mini roundabout in eldwick
(top of park road)
it will be useless
i used to live just off waren lane and drive up park road home after work
(3/4 turn on the mini roundabout)
lost count of the amount of times i nearly got hit
(usually by women drivers in 4x4's driving straight on whilst on the telephone with the kids in the back)
bearing in mind im turning with my indicator on
i used to be cautious n beep them
was funny when they droped the phone n locked the car up in shock

Alan, your link assumes this is a crossroads which it isn't.

Why are you so opposed to a roundabout which would keep the traffic moving. So what are we going to get, traffic lights at Belton Road and some more at the Sykes Lane development? Traffic lights at the Sykes Lane development are on the plans!

More thought and forward planning required I think!

Fred please do not tell me what I am opposed too! I was one of those who tried to get Cllr Waddington to get a roundabout!

MY simple point is that without removing the balls and widening the road there ain't room for a mini roundabout! You can't just paint a white circle!

If you don't realise the room needed look at similar cross roads like believe it or not Cross Roads on Howarth Road where there are THREE roads in to a mini roundabout.

This is what you, or rather the District Council, would have to do -

roundabout makes most sense, cos the traffic needs slowing down there, but it may need a bit of substance to be seen and not ignored. There should be room to do it properly, at reasonable cost. It would be nice not to sit there for ages watching speeding traffic rushing by, and hoping to dash out when there's a gap!

Think it will be many years before anything is done, if Sykes Lane had gone ahead they may have done something.

But little chance now of either for a long time.
