This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

We really do need to leave Bradford Council as soon as possible. They are a joke who cant even carry out simple duties. Silsden puts in more money than most areas of the city. You have to ask where does it go.

They have never been all that effective anyway, so what's new there?

As I've said ub previous posts, BMDC are only interested in Bradford city. It is left to community groups to work for the communities needs!

It would be nice if Bradmet. spent money in areas where the people actually pay their own rates, never mind pumping it into the sinking ship called Bradford.

Years ago, we lived in Wilsden, the village and garden societies had approached Bradmet for litter bins placing at various points. They had a swift reply...NO they also lost funding for the village hall, we were deemed to be an afluent area. Come on, we paid our rates as did Harden,Cullingworth, Gilstead and Eldwick, and appeared to get nothing back. But they could plow money into regeneration areas.

Silsden has a Conservative majority.

Conservatives do not want to pay taxes, local and national.

Silsden gets what the majority in Silsden obviously want; low taxes and low services.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

I think councils should be able to provide a range of services cheaper. The problem is what those services are and the areas where they are. It would be nice to think that Silsden got back in services what the people of Silsden pay out.
Lets remember around 20,000 people work for the council...do you think we get value for money?
