For all the 'issues' and bleating about the disability ramp outside the town hall - now that is almost completed it looks in proportion , doesn't take much of the path and looks well made. |

It might look good but it is of no use, it is not big enough! And if there is somebody in a wheelchair waiting is cross the road at the Town Hall side the pavement is totally blocked, so people who can't be bothered to wait will walk out into the traffic, just wait until there is an injury then see who does the bleating. |

Looked to me like they put it up then realised it didnt fit so had to alter it. I might pop down with my tape measure and see if its DDA compliant.. |

Didnt realise you are in charge of town planning!. Thing is we need rules or people would build anything anywhere. Joe Public have to stick to council rules but the council cherry pick which they fancy. |

rubbish you do not need planning for every thing now so get your facts right? just been in touch with brad met building inspector and asked about a loft extension on my house and was told i no longer need planning permission so up it goes. |

I was surprised that there were steps at one end, presume this is normal but if someone in a wheelchair or scooter is aproaching from the building society end as opposed the church end, is there enough room for them to manouvre onto the ramp? and same applies coming out of the building if they need to go down the street instead of up.It does look narrow |

•Manual wheelchair user requires minimum 700mm width.
•Small mobility scooter user requires minimum 750mm width.
•Large mobility scooter user requires minimum 1000mm width.
If you go down with your tape measure I think you will find the only place the ramp is 1.5m (the minimum width requirement for a disabled ramp) is at the actual entrance to the Town Hall.
However not all disabled need a wheelchair and this ramp allows those that have difficulty with steps into the Town Hall BUT if this exit is unavailable/blocked you will have to negotiate the steps at the rear entrance of the building (even worse if you have taken the lift to the upper floor). IE you can get in but you may have problems getting out - check it out for yourself, the rear escape route should be available at any time the building is open.

MDR & Localman obviously do not care a fig for the safety and well being of the people who might use this place without knowing of it's inherent dangers, This building is no longer fit for purpose! Bradford AKA Mallinson have wasted well over £300K, which could and should have been used much better elsewhere in Silsden. |

Grandad - what a stupid statement - my comment was entirely regarding the ramp (which I'm lead to believe is a legal requirement) and the builders appear to have had a very good job with little room - a good compromise!! - and not a hazard. If there are 'other ' issues with the building then they must be addressed - assuming they are genuine H&S issues... |
