This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

With the imminent closure of the Conservative Club, is this a sign of the times for the Tories in Silsden ??

Nearest to a Labour club was Silsden Warpdressers and Twisters Club whilst wasnt the Liberal Club the former Cobbydog(now flats) up shed side and shop on Kirkgate next to the chinese.
The Twisters went independent from CIU.Its the way forward!!!

Liberal Club was in a building now demolished in silsden boat yard. Twisters was a working mens club - quite different to a political party!

As Skippy says the labour club was in the boat yard . It was on the corner of Keighley Rd / Elliott St , behind the bench . Near the top of the bridge was the Gents toilets , very handy on the way home from the Grouse .

It must have been in the late fifties, I remember being taken there by my Great Uncle Truman Clarkson who I believe was the steward at the time.
