This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Can anybody tell me how often the recycling bins are emptied by the Methodist Church?

Went there today with my plastic bottles and was appalled at the state of the area surrounding the recycling skips which has clearly not been emptied for monthsangryangry

The skip was full and people have been leaving their plastics inside used carrier bags alongside the skip.

re recycling. I have contacted BMDC and they phoned me back. The reason the plastic container is not cleared is because the collection truck driver cannot get in the car park for parked cars.

suely the whole point of having a recycling point in silsden is to be able to use it and not have to take it to keighley...

This is not directed at original at all, but that is a pretty poor excuse. Did they not say what their plans are for this situation? Could they not leave leaflets under wipers explaining they are coming back on xx day and please don't park on that day? Could the driver not go knock on a few doors and try to find the car owners?

I know ultimately people should not block the access before anyone says that.

Phoned the council, said they would pass it onto the recycling department, wouldn't give me a job ref or any other information. Back to throwing plastics into the bin for us then!!! So much for making recycling easy.

Shouldn't so called environmentally aware stores/supermarkets like the Co-op provide some recycling facility? At least for their own packaging?
