Now the sports clubs are trying to stop cars blocking the pavement lets look at why its doesnt matter if they do or dont.
Surely the council should give us a footpath all the way to the railway station that is at least 1000mm wide. A wheelchair user requires 900mm inc elbow room yet on the sports field side at one point the pathway is only 558mm.On the other side at the bridge it is only 356mm with no path after the bridge.
I would say on Peters photo it looks like the car on the pavement is 650mm from the wall.
People seem happy to have a go at the sports clubs for Sat/Sun parking even though the biggest problem is there 24/7.
Some people will remember Bradford Council withdrawing free school buses for Silsden Kids.30 years+ ago. Both Keighley Road and Skipton Road were the measured routes. The people of Silsden said neither route was safe because of the footpaths, or lack of them. But the council said both were OK.Only the canal tow path was deemed unsafe.
So, isnt it time people started asking the council for a safe route to Steeton Station?

You're a stirrer 'skippy', you wanted to ban the fixtures till it's built! wink ;)

As for a safe route to the station there already is one but people keep parking on it!

Write a letter to Bradford 'gazzer' and a copy to Silsden Town Council to endorse your proposals then.

So? Why then park on the pavement to make it too narrow for even a pedestrian?

I must be missing summat here with this debate, I AM NOT, as I keep saying, complaining about parking on the road BUT BLOCKING THE FOOTPATH!!!

Perhaps the council should paint yellow lines and then clamp everyone when they take over the parking wink ;)

Never mind, good old 'gazzer' will have a snipe whatever I say, he even had a go when I praised the club! Amazing.............

Let's not forget parking on the pavement is illegal. That said, I cannot understand why Bradmet did not widen the footpath when they had the opportunity when the road was resurfaced. They even dug up most of the curbstones and THEN RELAYED THEM IN THE SAME PLACE.... amazing.

A bit of good communication with the local populous there - not!

You really must get a life!!
How sad that all you do is complain about the parking on pavements on Keighley Road.
I came past last night and the two cars that were there were parked perfectly!!
Now for the rest of Silsden - cars parked on kerbs, grass verges, pavements - the lot!!
I could start naming these other places if you have not noticed them!!

We all had a first post Alan, leave them alone! I'm sure the two cars were parked perfectly legally today - its the 50 odd that are there on Sunday mornings that are the problem.

"First" post 'claymoreking' wink ;) okay then! But they would more respect if they came on without personal comments in a debate. Makes you think doesn't it!

IF you bother to read my post you will see that several others this morning were parked almost fully on the pavement, as they most usually are, causing people to walk round them in the road at a time when people are walking to the station!

Wonder who will get the blame when a car hits a pedestrian?

p.s. going for the whisky now, fed up with the debate now, it's obvious certain ones on here only read or hear what they want to hear.

But, as they say, there's more than one way of skinning a cat! wink ;)

As this was yesterday and no football/cricket games were being played, it can't be them. My guess it's the construction team, now i'm also only guessing and i know i'll be shot down so please wait till i've finished... The drivers of these cars probably think they are doing us all a favor by parking on the kerb, as they are doing it everyday i'm assuming these people don't walk very often. Now they will be thinking that by keeping on the kerb they are leaving enough room for cars and wagons to pass.
Maybe if someone went down ( pcso maybe) and explained to them that they are causing Silsden residents to fall out, give themselves ulsers and turning them to drink. Obviously after he's explained that they are breaking the law....
At least by doing this we only really have a weekend to work on?
Maybe we could get some yellow paint and paint the lines ourselves? I think double yellows are the only way we'll get them to stop parking.

alan, I've forgotten what I said that to, but I will try and find it. If, however, its who I think we are talking about, you may have been right about them - I just got called a liar on another thread!

Oh, I'd better mention parking so I'm not going off thread - yes, its still a problem but it does seem to be getting a little better.
