Topic : Are all those that play football at Silsden in wheelchairs? |

For this is the only reason I can see for not parking ones car on the industrial estate and walking to the ground. I assume all the cars cluttering up the road just outside the ground were driven there by disabled people. |

Im sure when the new facilities are built there will be more on site parking.I understand they are still accepting grants, donations and help towards this community project. Advance warning.Expect more traffic next week as Silsden host Paddock from Liverpool in the last sixteen of the all England FA SUNDAY CUP sponsored by Carlsberg. Why not walk down and watch the game kick off 1-00pm. |

Just heard Silsden Under 12's also played yesterday in a County Cup game and are now through to the quarter finals.Well done to the youngsters. |

The supporters must all have wooden legs because when I went past there at 10am (Sun) there were two cars parked on the pavement between the entrance to the grounds and the traffic island. Shouldn't there be white lines from the traffic island to the entrance to the grounds to prevent illegal parking? Earlier I saw a machine sweeping the pavement along there - just as well there were no cars parked at 9.30am (Sun) or the pavements would have been unswept. |

usual thing no one wants to walk these days yeah i saw them yesterday as i was walking down belton road after taking the dog for a walk along the canal |

i`ed rather see the cars parked at the sports ground by parents that take there kids to sport than see gangs of kids doing damage up and down the town and parents not bothered where they are or what they are doing |

Spot on 'coby1' |
|
| Fred |
But why do they park on the pavement which makes it dangerous for everyone! |
|
| alan |
No idea 'Fred' and they're not even 4x4 drivers! |
|

Parking on the pavement doesnt make much difference because you cant push a pram/wheelchair the full length to the roundabout because at some point the path narrows. |
|
| gazzer |
Not saying you should park on the path |
|
| Fred |
quote ![]() So that makes it OK to park on the pavement then! |

quotethats going off road to most 4x4 drivers |

"i`ed rather see the cars parked at the sports ground by parents that take there kids to sport than see gangs of kids doing damage up and down the town and parents not bothered where they are or what they are doing" The same parent then demonstrates how to be considerate to others by parking on the pavement. some example. Anyhow if they are fit enough to play football then surely they are fit enough to walk to the pitch. If at 60 I can walk from Silsden to the station what is the problem? -not traffic, plenty of pavements and crossings |

it's difficult enough to walk on the pavement without having to negotiate cars too. it's been about a year now since the bridge repairs were done and the section from the "beige balls" to the football pitch is still a mess /waiting to be fixed. Anyone know if this is on the cards or will it just be forgotten about? |

If the boys and girls reach there finals and win in whatever sport or competion they take part in the whole town will be proud even the people who moan at the parking noise and anything els so let the players be taken to the sport field by car and live and let live |

I have no problems with people parking along Keighley Road as long as it doesn't obstruct traffic and they DON'T PARK ON THE PAVEMENT. But, everytime there is a football match a few cars park on the pavement between the entrance to the ground and the traffic island making the narrow pavement impossible to walk on. They have to park on the pavement because if they parked on the road they would cause an obstruction. The only reason they can have to park here in the first place is they are too lazy to walk a few yards, there are plenty of places to park but it does mean a bit of a walk if you arrive late for the match. I believe parking offences are now enforced by our community police - so if you are around at about 10am on a Sunday when there is a football match on - fill your boots! |

I will bring it up at the football club if someone can send me details of an occasion when someone was actually obstructed. The cars who are parked maybe partly on the pavement will still leave more room for pedestrians than that available where the path narrows near the river bridge.I have done a stint of pushing a wheelchair so I know about the problems you can encounter and if someone didnt leave enough room I would be first to shout and shout the loudest. So send any details and I will investigate. [email protected] |

not football pitch related but keighley road parking related i went for a walk today up past the bridge pub (im guessing white van man was delivering there) and he parked completely on the pavement blocking it and me & the mut had to walk in the road to get round it (i am of course forgetting that van drivers dont have to follow the laws of the highway just as motorbikes dont have speed limit laws to follow) |

The problem on Sunday was that cars were parked on both sides of the road, so narrowing the road which makes some people nervous. The club needs to sort it out or one day everyone will find they have been booked for obstruction and there will be whinging letters in the Keighley News. I know for big events they have made an effort with cones and signs but it looks like they might need to do that regularly. The road from the canal bridge to the garage needs double yellow lines down both sides. That some people need to travel door to door in their cars amazes me. |

Silsden AFC do instruct managers of all the teams to try and make sure car owners dont park on Keighley Road. However every game Silsden host is against a team form out of Silsden. For instance the Sunday senior side hosted a team from Wakefield. So not every player can walk to the ground. I would still rather have cars parked on but not blocking the footpath than parked fully on the road blocking the road from lets say emergency vehicles.Thats my view not the clubs. I still believe that the narrowest part of the footpath on Sunday was by Jacksons field(where the path is narrow) and not by a parked car. |

I think cars must only park on one side of the road to let trafick pass but lets not invite the police to put tickets on any cars unless they do block the road by the bollards. |
|
| The Stig |
At least if the cars are parked on the footpath - the inconsiderate dog owners wont let their 4 legged friends " leave" anything. Its getting worse....... |
|
| coby1 |
do`nt say that stig or people will start to park at the sports field again to take there dogs on to the pitch where the kids play ![]() ![]() |
|
| ginjo |
would it not be possible for cars to park in the car parks of the business premises on belton road? I am sure they would not object |
|
| pumbajunior |
quotethe problem with this is some of us wouldnt be able to park outside our houses and if i cant do that id probably have to park at least 1/4 mile away and before anyone says cant you walk i do every day for 1-2 hours minimum around the village |
