I posted on the old thread because I wanted to show a picture of the previous gas works to show how recent that work was carried out and to question why it will be replaced so soon Its a pity we cant post images |

Gazzer, just for you  NOTE THE DATE OF THIS REPORT This was caused by cowboy contractors working for the Yorkshire Electricity. If my memory serves me well, I think something similar happened when they put the cable in. Kirgate was dug up not that long ago to replace the main gas main, this time there wasn't any fires, just major traffic disruption. If you want to se pictures look on Google Street Map. CONTRACTORS "LIGHT UP" SILSDEN 4/7/2006 Emergency services were called out to Kirkgate, Silsden this afternoon after electricity contractors fractured the mains gas pipe.  Flames could be seen leaping 2m into the air just outside Silsden Town Hall . Traffic and pedestrians were diverted around the incident.  “At least you can cross the road without fear of being run over” said one onlooker. |
