This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I have just seen Ramsay's show and read about it here, which lead me to find out a little about Silsden. It looks to be a nice little village,I love English villages, did a trip in 2006.I was hoping I may find some of you lovely people from Silsden that may like to become friends.I am Josie, female, early 60's,from Brisbane,Australia.it is on the East Coast.I will look in here from time to time to see who has replied.I do hope there is a few replies..Thank you..

I think if you look round the site 'aussie' you'll find plenty of pictures of Silsden.

Despite what you read on the site sometimes, it is probably the best little town in Yorkshire wink ;)

Even the people are nice, but don't tell 'em I said that!

We have only lived in Silsden since Christmas having moved over here from Harrogate to be nearer where I work in Skipton. I dont know why we didn't move sooner I have travelled to work over Blubberhouses for the last 20 years.
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that I would rather be here, it feels much more like a village than a town, all the people we have met are very friendly and helpful and the shops are excellent, there is nothing like getting real steak from a real butchers, beats the supermarket muck any day.

Interesting how most of the replies are from people moving to Silsden. I'm in that group myself, having moved here in 1999 to be close to work. I agree with it being a nice place, never regretted moving here. A lot of really old buildings tucked away in various places, and nice walks to do in the countryside around.

Quite a few Silsdeners have emigrated to Brisbane over the years, Bribie Island area. I've been to Brisbane twice in the last few years, wonderful place.
