This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Insp Sue Sanderson, from Craven neighbourhood police team, also visited the forum to discuss recent crime statistics in the area.

She said that she realised speeding was a common complaint in the area but that in some cases this was an issue with perception. She said: “At every neighbourhood forum the big issue is speeding. But there is often the perception that cars are speeding when in actual fact they are following the limit. We have had complaints in certain areas and gone out to do speed watches and not caught anybody exceeding the limit.

“Craven is a safe place to live but the perception might be different and it is this which we are looking at tackling in the area.”

The above statement was taken from the Keighley news. Can we all be wrong?
Maybe Insp Sanderson would like to come and sit in my living room and watch the traffic and see if it's just our 'perception'?
Maybe if the PCSO's checking speed didn't have to stand with a sign telling drivers what they are doing plus wearing high vis jackets they'd get a better idea of how fast cars really drive down these roads. You can see poeple breaking as soon as they see these signs. Especially Skipton Road.

Bid to stop ‘dangerous speeders’
10:52am Thursday 9th October 2008

By Keighley News reporter »

A Craven ward councillor has called for action to stop “dangerous” speeders on a busy Steeton road.

Councillor Andrew Mallinson was so concerned by cars exceeding the 20mph speed limit in Thornhill Road, he decided to send out 420 survey forms to local residents in a bid to do something to stop it.

That's not what the district councillor says 'shazza' wink ;) Maybe he's wrong too!
