RE COUNCILOR NAYLORS COMMENTS IN SILSDEN TOWN NEWS LETTER THAT DEVELOPERS TAYLOR WOODROW HAVE LISTENED TO THE PEOPLE OF SILSDEN AND AMMENDED THEIR PLANS THE CHANGES MADE ARE TOTALLY INSIGNIFICANT AND MINOR APART FROM PROPOSED TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND WHOEVER ASKED FOR THEM SHOULD OWN UP NOW AS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT ITSELF NO CHANGE THERE STILL 122 HOUSES BUILT OF ARTIFICIAL STONE CRAMMED INTO A CONSERVATION AREA BUT I SUPPOSE THE UPSIDE IS IT WILL CREATE MORE REVENUE FOR BRADFORD COUNCIL TO SPRND ANYWHERE THEY LIKE AS LONG AS IT`S NOT IN SILSDEN. |

Could I respectfully ask posters NOT TO post EVERYTHING in capitals, it makes the text difficult to follow. It is equivalent to shouting. Thank you - Peter |

i HAVE to AGREE with CHAZ tho
The developers have merely paid lip service to the idea of consultation. I call for Devolution from Bradford Met so we can decide for ourselves on important local issues like these. |

Sometimes you have to SHOUT for people to listen and on this subject the more SHOUTING the better. At least its not sneaky and underhand like the tactics employed by the developer. |

this is an interesting issue which pops up under various topics in this forum. There are a number of issues:- 1. we know that the nation is short of houses and will have to build more to meet demand 2. brown field sites have to be used more ( I know that a small part of this development is green field site, but the proposed area as a whole is a bit of an eyesore) 3. other housing developments in Silsden have been successful 4. there seems to be a range of prices/sizes in the development which will help a wide range of people to buy, some maybe for the first time. Our house prices are still reasonable in relation to elsewhere 5. Silsden needs to expand not contract or stand still, to allow for economic growth/jobs/ local businesses/schools/medical facilities etc to grow 6. Developers are the only people with the resources to move things along, and they do provide work for people. So they make a profit as well, and move on to the next development, so what? 7. Silsden can become an even better place to live and bring up families, it's great now but can always be improved 8. Gordon Brown says that in future local people will be able to influence spending by their local council more than in the past, so can we keep more of our council tax revenue locally? 9. as far as I can see the developers have published everything, had meetings, websites have plans etc, can't see much underhand tactics there 10. it's going to happen, let's use it to our advantage if we can |

be interested to know how long carliol has lived here , silsden has expanded far too much over the past 20 years or so ,the only things that have been added though are houses if carliol has small children bet it was a struggle to get them into a nursery in silsden and the same will happen with the secondary school . fair enough developers have to contribute an amount towards education and leisure facilities ,which amounts to nothing when you consider the profit they will make, and the point is it wont get spent in silsden, because according to comments made at neighbourhood forum meeting last year our schools are under subscribed. |

must admit I've only lived happily here 3 years or so, so maybe my views don't count for much. I don't know anything you don't, maybe I should have used the word "if" in front of "it's going to happen" in 10. I was just trying to put a positive slant on things! And our children are 35 and 38, so can't reply to that one. Our grandson lives here and loves his pre-school every day. |

Ever since I can remeber who ever has put plans in for more house`s in Silsden has always got the go ahead. There was objection to Waterside ,Spencer Avenue new house`s Cornwal Ave Taylor Ave ect. The objection`s have always said that the sewers are not suitable the school are too small. On top of all this since the textiles mills closed there is not one large employer in the village |

As someone who has lived here for twenty years I think we should congratulate "carliol" for his/her informed arguments.
However, I'd be interested to hear from "sam" of evidence that the developers have used underhand tactics etc! |
