This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but I am just wondering what has happened to the Bai Tong? There has been a note on the door for well over two weeks now saying "Close Today". I heard a rumour they had gone bust but can't see it really.... I love it there and choose them over Stefanos and Grouse for meals out. The family are lovely, so welcoming. I hope the rumour is not true!

The family have decided to sell up and spend more time with their children. Seems strange that they would just close it down rather than sell it while still open but thats what they doing.we will also miss it very much, always a favourite with us.the Grouse closing suddenly was also a blow to Silsden.

Awh what a shame that is, well obviously if they are spending more time with their family then it's fair enough but they will definitely be missed. I hope we still bump into the family though the chap (who ran it) does always look strange when he's just in jeans and not in his Thai outfit. It's kind of like seeing your teacher out of school!

Good luck and best wishes to them all x

Its apparently going to be a restaurant NOT a takeaway (although whether they chose to do takeaway is up to them). I have no problem with 2 Indian type restaurants in Silsden - I am afraid there appears to be little market for anything else

A decent Chinese would be nice. Not really into the Indian stuff, but basic chinese is OK.

The advert outside is for restaurant/takeaway. I wonder if it has planning consent for a takeaway?.

part of due diligence for any prospective buyer would be to check that appropriate planning exists or is obtainable before completion. I not really sure it is up to us to worry about just now. Of course we could organise another witch hunt and drive off any prospective buyers leaving us with an empty premises or even worse another firework shop.

Bai Tong always did takeaway.

i remember the complaints in advance when Merlins closed & the rumours were that a Thai was to open, don't be too quick to judge

Maybe they didnt have planning for the Thai place but lets face it parking is a bigger issue here as its even closer to the Bell Sq/Bolton Rd accident blackspot.

How can parking be a problem when there is a car park across the road that does not charge for the first half hour and off peak. Or is crossing the road too far to walk?

Think you will find most will not us the car park and will just pull up outside not giving a toss for anyone else or the danger from the junction at the side, that said also we need another takeaway like a hole in the head
