It would appear that something has occurred that I am unaware of. Having entered the Co-op this morning, to buy £5 worth of ham and beef, I found I was unable to do so as they were down to the bones (sorry!!). The lady in front of me on the only open checkout stated everything she had gone shopping for was sold out except for her newspaper. There did appear to be a lot of empty shelves suggesting a mad rush for food, as there is occasionally on milk if you believe what you are told!!!I heard mention of a strike at head office, which would be rather convenient, perhaps the frequent milk shortage is due to striking dairy cows or the standard of veg is due to a strike by couriers who are not prepared to transport any foodstuffs which could be classed as fresh. On the positive side, veggie sausages are buy one get one free for a limited time, which brings their price to £1 a pack, which incidentally is the price at 'Iceland' everyday. (Tetleydrinker, please no comments about the cost of getting to Iceland would be greater than savings made etc!!!!)There, bi-monthly rant about the Co-op over, I will now go and enjoy the weather.

Try their freephone customer service number 0800 0686 727. The number is on the label of most of their own label products. I have had some success using that number in the past.

Be thankful for what we have got.

Just watch the shops become empty on Kavendish Street, Keighley when Asda opens.

What do you expect from the Co-op.In the old days it was the Yorkshire Co-op but it went down hill when the Lancastrians took it over.

What is wrong with the Co-operative. At least if stuff gets sold out it means people are using the place rather than driving to Keighley, Ilkley or Skipton.

For a store of that size I think it has an excellent range with a nice selection of the basics and exotics.

ASDA, TESCO et al have up front low prices, but then really load those little extras one always buys. At the end the basket cost at the Co-Operative is not much different.

Even drivng out think of the choice you have around here: Tescos, Sainsburys, Morrisons,Aldi, Netto, Booths and now M&S on top of the Co-Op.

In some places they have a choice: Tesco Tesco or Tesco!!!

Well said wahiba.

Never runs outta the stuff I buy, and I will have to do some shopping there tonight because I was out all yesterday doing the radio for a charity walk with Oxfam.

Nice pleasant staff at the Co-op and good service, can't say you get that at all the other supermarkets!

Support your local business wink ;)

Asda is on line and if you spend over £50 there is no charge for delivery Tesco also on line they charge a £5 used both of these services and they are very good, great for people who are house bound or just do not have the time or transport to shop in keighley or Skiptonwink ;)

Ciderman, I do not consider it overly expensive to get to Iceland. You can after all get a K Day ticket for 3 pounds (off Peak) and Jump on one of the frequent comfortable buses operated by Keighley and District. If you have the time and inclination prior to shopping at Iceland, you could perhaps visit many of the area tourists attractions i.e Howarth, East Riddlesden Hall, 5 Rise locks at Bingley or Guardhouse ! Arriving back at Keigley in time to buy your frozen goods before setting off back home on another comfortable bus.

Cheap shopping and a fun day out all for only £3.00 happy :)
