IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. www.ilkleygazette.co.uk/news/news_local/11200102._It_s_up_to_us_to_keep_Ilkley_looking_smart_/?ref=var_0 Councillor Hawksworth is right in that it is ultimately the community that is responsible for their imediate area, but with current day work life balances and a generally apathetic approach to neighbours, most communities don't have that approach to their surroundings. The community spirit is just not there and when it is, it is always the same few people. |

Gamekeeper you are so right, as I have said before it is a thankless task and I do appreciate the effort put in, but the town council need to be more transparent. |

Victor, the Town council could not be more transparent, perhaps you need to clean your glasses, because there is something stopping you seeing that which is clear to everyone else. |

Talking of transparent politicians every time Rowley speaks I can see right through him!! Latest he has a letter published in the Keighley News.He claims to be surprised that the ballroom architecture has been restored, when he visited last week. Surprised?........why?.Mallinson has a facebook page where he (Mallinson) on March 25th posted a picture of the said restoration, and it was liked by one person. That peson was Rowley!!!.So in just a few weeks he has forgotten that he already knew about the restoration. Still it makes a good electioneering story but actually shows how politicians use spin |

www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/11201109.Why_a_lengthsman_may_help_to_clean_up_Silsden/ I don't know if I have read/heard this correctly, but I am under the impression that it is looking at taking one Lengthsman to cover both Silsden AND Steeton. In my opinion, there are enough hot spots in Silsden to warrant one person, full time, purely on the job of street cleaning and locking/unlocking the toilets. If you look at Howden Road, in Autumn, up the length of the cemetery, the footpath is ankle deep in leaf litter. It is a full time job to keep up with tasks like this. On another note, I could have done with a couple of ton bags of the leaf litter for the compost heap, but didn't feel it appropriate to just go get it as I don't know the legalities of it. |

Grandad why is it that very few people in Silsden know that there might be another community venue. If it comes into conversation they say why. |

quoteGrandad why is it that very few people in Silsden know that there might be another community venue. If it comes into conversation they say why. Where did this topic of conversation come from? This thread already has several subjects within the thread without introducing another, and please don't wind up Grandad he can do that all by himself sorry Grandad but don't take the bait. |

Peter I think Bradford council should spend more money on road cleaning and the upkeep of the toilets, but they say money is not available. So Silsden Town council will be considering using some of the precept on these and other projects. If community spirit is to be re engaged between the Town council and supporters of the Town hall project, then some people should stop slagging off the Town hall. |
