This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Ok so the gossips are out - several people have said that tesco are now thinking of buying the co-op store. I'm guessing this is just the usual rumour mill - or is there some truth to it.....

Interesting notion, when they fought for years for planning permission for a new store on Railway Road, Ilkley. They have now publicly scrapped that plan and are looking to sell that site and a few others for business and residential.

The access to the Co- op is REALLY ill thought. The bulk of delivery vehicles to Tesco stores are Class 1 HGV. while the Co-op uses the small Class 1 trailers, I regularly see drivers struggling to reverse the trailers into the yard.

Time will tell.

The application on behalf of Tesco is still progressing through the pre planning channels albeit at a slower pace due to council hold ups.

Just thought I`d say.....

The gossip thickens - proposed new Tesco land may now be designated a permanent Travellers site as Bradford have a statutory obligation to find a location locally - is this what the new road access is about?
