IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Talking of weather suggestions for winter are December Unsettled nothing too cold but maybe a bad storm around xmas then getting colder but not too cold January A really cold spell lasting a couple of weeks then getting milder February Nothing much to report slightly above average temps Nothing set in stone so far in the future though |

Its penciled in for xmas eve but the worst should be north of us. It looks like the storm has been given the name Eva www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6815674/Storm-Eva-set-to-soak-the-UK-on-Christmas-Eve.html |

A SEVERE weather warning has been issued for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Met Office has today issued a yellow warning of rain for West Yorkshire, which is valid from 6pm on Christmas Day until 11.45pm on Boxing Day. The heavy and persistent rain brings a risk of localised flooding. A Met Office spokesman: "A band of rain is expected to spread in from the southwest across much of England and Wales through Christmas Day. "By the evening of Christmas Day there is a chance that this band of rain may become slow moving across northern parts of England, with rain becoming persistent and heavy at times overnight, perhaps lasting through much of Boxing Day. www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/14161288.Severe_weather_warning_issued_for_Christmas_Day_and_Boxing_Day/ |

Provisional average temp 7.9c which is 4.1 above long term average.Obviously there was the big Xmas storm on Boxing Day January. It was a generally mild month in the south, but it turned colder everywhere for a few days around mid-month, with widespread frosts, and some snow, mainly over high ground and in the north. The last third of January was generally very mild and wet with strong winds February. The provisional UK mean temperature was 3.9 °C, which is 0.2 °C above the 1981-2010 long-term average Snow tonight??? |
