Could it be the dirty little scrotes perched on the Co-op wall leaving a mess earlier on at around 19:00? |

Before we call them "dirty little scrotes" Lets face it we are all guilty of growing up and probably did exactly the same.... having a few beers, having a laugh, being young! At least they have found themselves somewhere to go where they are out of the way, id rather they went up there than the park or bus stop. |

while one cannot really condone such behaviour one can understand it.
In our current molly-coddle the kids and everyone's a threatening pervert until proved otherwise by paying up via a contracted agency it is nice to know that this is turning out to be a total waste of effort and resources and youngsters are rebelling. Nothing new there, but I am glad to see the hand wringers with no memory of their misbegotten youth are, as always, failing.
I mean, when I were a lad in the Boy Scouts with my 6inch Sheath knife and fire lighting skills it was all great fun. Of course after school there was the CCF when we played with rifles and machine guns, real ones - they worked. (Lee Enfield Mk1s and Sten Guns for those who know of such things).
Keep it up kids. Rebel. It is your birthright, it is your future. Of course, you will then grow up and screw the next generation behind you and like most forget all about your early days.
So from one who does remember sorry that my generation has screwed up your education. I went to university with fees paid and a maintenance grant to live on. So no life long debt for me. I was able to buy a house on my early modest salary.
Of course my generation even looked afters its own. No free bus passes for pensioners in those days. Had to pay there way like everyone else. Mind you medicine was free for everyone.
Sorry kids - that is life.

For once, I agree with Old Miner. My own perceptions of dangerous situations change far more quickly than they ever used to. My appreciation of "the better things in life" change far quicker than they ever used to. Overall the question has to be where to draw the line? My own children are only very young yet. I have made my mistakes. I want to do the very best I can for them, take them out camping, walking, enjoy and appreciate the countryside (while we still have one). I don't want my children destroying habitat for tomorrows keystone species.
If it is the wood I am thinking of, then why not bring in some conservation working parties and get the kids involved? There will always be the odd one or two miscreants who are hell bent on destroying things, but give the kids some ideal of ownership, give them responsibility. It has to be worth a try.
The old saying goes "Youth is wasted on the young". |
