My lad and 4 other mates hanging around, not drinking, smoking or causing any trouble at all..... Policeman walks up to them, all of you give me your names......my lad says "what for sir?" policeman replies "don't call me sir, i haven't been knighted!" Unlike me, my lad is quite timid and never ever in trouble on the street, school or otherwise. He laughs, thinking it's a joke, and the policeman gets 6" from his face and is tells him not to be clever....!? Talk about all being tarred with the same brush!! |

Twos company, threes a crowd, therefore four is obviously the start of a riot. Bit like taking pictures of trains and buses. Anyone doing it must be plotting a terrorist attack. There are courses on the go at the moment for goverment employees about looking out for terrorism and this is the sort of tripe preached. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s)
it was 10pm so i guess he was a real copper. As for reporting the copper, i think it more shows their attitude towards the kids and they wonder why they are treated with so little respect on occasions.
.....and yes, i only have 1 side of the story but i trust my lad but understand your scepticism.
It just really annoyed me that they chose my lad who NEVER causes trouble when there are little scrotes doing all the drug taking, drinking and anti social stuff in places that they are so easy to find if the police really wanted to. Rant over. |

He's 15. The fact the copper would treat him as "just a lad" is my whole point about being tarred with the same brush... |

Think if it was my lad Keith I'd be having a word with the inspector at the meeting next week.
I'm sure that that attitude isn't the relationship that the senior police want to foster! |

I think the fact the Policeman took exception to being called "sir", proves what a state we are in. There will be those of us on this site, that the word Sir was common practice to use. I still do, and I am now left wondering if that offends the gentlemen I use it to. Common curtesy out of the window I guess. |

typical police pick on the innocent, and not on the real criminals. when theres fights and burglaries they not intrested. when silsden was a village we had a police station now and its gone.not a copper in sight.the highest percentage of our council tax goes to the police, awage for nothing. no wonder where in a resession. |

you are right there are talking to young kids while the real crimes are taking place i.e. lawn mowers stolen from the cricket ground and just across the road on Belton road a wagon raided while the driver was asleep in the cab thousands of pounds worth of goods taked were the hell are the police?????????????????????????? |

Keith, Where did this all take place? I am not defending the Police, if what your lad says really did happen just as he says it did, then the Policeman was out of order, but if your lads comments came after the rest of the group had been giving the officer a load of grief in an area where they are regularly getting calls about drunken youths smashing bottles and causing trouble then; that puts a slightly different perspective on the proceedings. The Police are organising P.A.C.T Patrols were any member of the public can go out on patrol with a member of their local Neighbourhood Police Team, why don’t you try it? Go out and see for yourself the problems they have to try and deal with. It is to easy to sit at home complaining, get out there, then you can speak from first hand experience. |

you may as well do away with the police in silsden for what use the are what is the point in paying all that council tax for nothing,we should do what they do in london and other citties. get sum sia registered security in town to do the job. costs less money and the job is dealt with. |

Grandad - It was somewhere near end of Elliot street. I know i must look like an angry dad complaining when actually my lad was in the wrong, i'm not. The rest of the group are decent lads too, you'll just have to believe me. As regards me going out to "patrol" the street's why the hell should i? I know what it must be like to be a copper, thats why i'm not one!! Just coz it can be thankless and frustrating job shouldn't mean they take it out on soft targets...

Keith, please don’t take my suggestion as any form of criticism of you or your lad, to many people complain about all sorts of things on this site and elsewhere, when they don’t really know the full facts. The idea of the “Police and community Together” patrols is so the community can have a chance not only to see for themselves just what true facts are but then to be in a better position to positively influence the way the police go about their job in patrolling our town. |

no worries Grandad. The more time goes on the less bothered i am to be honest! I have my opinion on traffic police but i have never been one to promote the ACAB attitude. They have a tough job to do especially when they have to do everything by the book or else they've infringed someone's human bloody rights!!!!! That said....the incident annoyed me at the time |
