J have heard that the Silsden Fun Day has changed venues to The Green off Bradley Road, but it is still advertised on this site as being held in The Park. Has anybody else heard of this change of venue? |

If you look again at the homepage it clearly states the change of venue and I think has for the past few days. They are setting up now on the Green. |

I can only update what I know about.
If event organisers don't bother to let me (or any of us) what they are doing then I can't put information on the site, or update information which is out of date.
I updated the Gala site information before 9am this morning after an email from Councilor Walton. The front page has been changed to provide details of the new venue. The link to the old information (also on the front page) still has the site being the park. However, the link does have information on events, which in the absence of any other information, should still be happening.
EVENT ORGANISERS & ADVERTISERS Please note this site gets over 1000 visitor per day and serves up over 2000 local information pages per day. If you want local people to know what is happening in Silsden then you should email me with the information. If you have a business then a page advertisement lasts for a year and it is much cheaper than the local paper. |

Sorry. As I always go into the forum, my eyes are drawn to the navigation bar on the right hand side, hence clicking on the Silsden Fun Day title there which wasn't updated then, but is now. |

People use the site in different ways. I changed the Gala link information page after seeing your message so thanks for pointing it out.
The LHS sidebar menu gets updated as well as the front page so don't forget to have a look at the rest of the site occasionally. |

Congratulations to everybody who took the time to help with this wonderful event, if was great to see so many people enjoying themselves, we was lucky with the weather.
The only thing that slightly spoilt it was the usual youths who seem incapable of enjoying anything without getting drunk, they can’t take their alcohol and always end up causing trouble, on this occasion the marshals at the event quickly had them off the field, and the local P.C.S.O. who was on duty soon arrived followed by reinforcements, the sight of the police had the idiots running scared; frightened they would have a letter sent home to mummy, or if they had tried to confront the police they would have been spending a night in the cells and an £80 ticket next morning. |

As so many other local carnivals and galas have fallen foul to the weather, the organisers should be delighted with themselves for managing to pull off such an excellent event.
Well done all |

It was a good effort. A bit more of a procession than I expected. Our visitors from down south thought it was a good do for a small place like Silsden.
It was different in the 1950s in Dover where I was brought up. The annual carnival procession was down the main street on a Saturday evening. The main street being the A2! Up to four military bands, including the US Air Force from Manston air base. There were also a lot of floats, I think half the towns lorries turned out.
Cross Channel traffic volumes ended it in the early 60s. At least up here it is still going. |
