My name is Laura Preston, I am 26 years old and I am the Event Manager for the Flash Mob Project to raise money for Bosom Friends which is a cancer support charity that provides help and support to people who are affected by cancer at a time that they need it the most. The event will take place on the 21st June in the Keighley area, location and times are reserved for participants. A flash mob is a dance event that starts as if from nowhere in a public place. One person starts’ dancing then it continues until almost everyone around has broken into the same routine. It’s a quick start, quick finish, big impact event and we need people of all ages to take part. No dance ability is needed as the routine is simple and easy to learn and most of all it’s fun! The track for the dance features music from Rhianna, Backstreet Boys, Footloose, Dirty Dancing, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and others. The event will be filmed and put on YouTube so everyone can share it on social media and ask friends and family to donate via the link that will be with the video. On the day free refreshments will be provided to participants and parking will be validated for those parking in the locations car park. Local newspapers will also be there after the event to take a group photo. This is going to be a big production and I really hope you can be a part of it. To make the event work we need as many people as possible. Get family involved, rope in your work mates and make it an office thing! I promise you won’t regret it. You will remember it for ages whilst doing something great for an amazing cause. Rehearsals start on the 16th April 2014 at the Keighley Central Hall, which is across from Gala Bingo in Keighley Town Centre. They start at 6:30pm for one hour and will be every Wednesday leading up to the event. We have a few local dance classes taking part so two weeks before the event we will be having one mass rehearsal and one final rehearsal the night before on the 20th June in the actual event location.
