Being new just had a quote from a national company for plastic to replace wood on most of the exterior. Really weird process, final price was a third of the starting price.
Want to check out more local companies and see how they compare. Any suggestions please of firms that have done a good job? |

Colin Craven did ours at a fair price and made a decent job of it.
He replaced all facia & soffit boards with new plastic, along with new guttering and ridge tiles, and some wall rendering repairs as well.

I used a firm called GFS Plastics for my mothers house, they were brilliant. They are based in Rawdon, easy to find on internet, and no crap about discounts etc!
Quoted me a good price today for my own windows and doors, gave 'em the go ahead.
They do all sorts of UPVC stuff.

I also had a flyer through the letterbox from GFS Plastics. They do look to be a professional outfit with fleet of vans etc, but quoted me 2½ times the price of what I eventually paid for my roof work being done by the person mentioned above. |

Make sure the price you get is for REPLACING the timber fascias etc, not overcladding them. Some do that as a cheap job! |

Good point Alan.
I just cut up all our old fascia boards last week to use as firewood this winter. |

Good point Alan.
I just cut up all our old fascia boards last week to use as firewood this winter. I'm Tom Day, experienced decorator, previously head of the Painting and Decorating dept at Keighley College. I don't know how much new plastic fascias and so on will cost but I can paint them properly and keep 'em going for another 5 years (not guaranteed!!!) but you know what I mean. |

Thanks for the offer Tom but I am still up to DIY (NVQ 0)painting, even replacement of some wooden bits. This is the consideration of alternative therapy. |
