This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

this post has been edited 1 time(s)

I have complained about them doing this before. But we only throw into our general waste bin, 2 half filled black sacks a week (2 half sacks as we change the bins twice a week to stop the house smelling). We also usually have some small items in the bottom of the bin like bags of dog poo as we clean them up as she does them.

The refuse collectors came this morning and are back to their old tricks. Seemingly as we don't have much waste in our general bin, they can't be bothered to move it and just grab the two half bin bags and leave the rest in the bottom of the bin. So we now have a nice layer of dog poo bags in the bottom of the bin. Are they just being lazy? Are we being given half a service as we recycle most of waste, yet we pay full council tax? Are we being punsihed for not filling our bin? Evryone one else on our street seems to have had their bins emptied completely so why not ours? It hasn't even move from it was left overnight.

Anyway last time this happened regularly I emailed them but I cannot for the life of me find an email address for refuse collection on the Bradford council website, presumably as they were fed up with people like me emailing them. Anyone have an email address for them.

P.S. The guys doing the recycling bins thankfully did do there proper job and empty the bins properly.

Try here www.bradford.gov.uk/contact_us/online_forms/waste_management/

I think you will be much better off playing the game and putting the dog poo with the rest of the rubbish or don't put the rest of the rubbish in large plastic bags. Use smaller plastic bags so they can't just grab a couple of bags and then they will HAVE to empty the wheelie.

Yes i think thats what were going to do in the short term
as the half full black binliners consist of the bin liners from the kitchen/bathroom/spare room bins

We just put the main rubbish bin out for collection every fortnight, that way it's full rather than half full/empty...

i think you will find that when the lads put the bins on the back of the wagon the lifts then take the bins up and the lids open and the rubbish falls out..if there is any thing which is not very heavy in the bottom of the bin especially if it has been compressed down with your other bags on top, then it will probably not slide out of the bin before the lift brings it back down..and as for paying council tax towards refuse..dont make me laugh...

Yes but the point is they are not putting the bin on the back of the wagon they are just grabbing a couple of black sacks and leaving the bin. I wouldn't mind so much if they were trying to empty it with the wagon.

The machines always empty the bins completely, even with loose bits in the bottom. Just make sure the bags are on top of each other so only the top one can be pulled out, that way they will use the bin. Also make sure the handle is pointing towards the road, it is then easier to grab the handle and pull it rather than open it to see what is in it.

no the machine does not allways empty the bins completely.. it all depends on whats in the bins and how hard its all been pushed down into the bin..(ie. if i stand on top of the bags and jump up and down then you might just get that last bag in)....
