Peter sorry if this is outside the bounds of your forum.
The government have said that to fund the recommended 1% extra for NHS staff; would mean that staff numbers would have to be cut to pay for it.
Well if that IS the case, I want to know how many MPs are being cut to pay for their 9% increase? |

Double standards from the elite. An independent pay body recommends a huge rise for them, they feel they HAVE to accept it.An independent pay body recommends 1% for nurses, midwives etc etc and they immediately refute it and threaten job losses. For those in the NHS they are well aware times are very very hard. The measley 1% was only given last year for one year, and NOT on pensions, unsocial hours, holidays etc, whilst their huge rise was on everything. The current chief exec at AGH has accepted their recommendation for over 10%............yep, they're all in it together. |

Unfortunately for the 80% of the population that's is the working classes, there is not alternative. Ed millibands collection of public school/Oxbridge boys and girls have no idea or interest in anything outside the square mile. Clegg's power at any price policy has shown him untrustworthy. Hopefully the students of Sheffield will put this right next year. The situation of NHS pay is nothing new, I worked in a non clinical role in the NHS for nearly 40 years, the current dispute ( in the media at any rate ) centres on Midwives, there are a lot of people doing essential jobs paid much less than Midwives. They have to live. |

hmmm, you're quite correct in your statement grandparent, however I also believe midwives have to live as well! They are independent practitioners who have undertaken degree level training in a specialist subject and have taken on many of the roles of doctors.I believe the media have only focused on them because this is the first time in their 133 year history they have decided to strike, proving that this government has achieved something really special. The majority of clinical roles in the NHS are taken by people who have a vocation, they are certainly not in it for the money, but surely that does not mean they should be walked over and treated IMHO appallingly by this government, whose arrogance in this matter is beyond belief.I do not believe the nurses, porters, cleaners and midwives caused the mess the country are in,I do believe they have taken their fair share of the brunt, and I strongly believe that if as David Cameron says you have to offer the best rates of pay to get the top level of service and attract the best people you should pay accordingly, and perhaps the ground floor service providers should be given the esteem and rise they deserve. And if you're wondering how they squandered their £250.00 they got last year, our local trust put their car parking up to £200.00 per annum if they work over 20 hours and the ukcc decided to increase their yearly payment from £75.00 to £125.00 per year, all nurses/midwives have to pay this to practice. And if you think I am biased, you are absolutely correct in your assumptions.Having witnessed first hand end of life care for a very dear and loved grandparent I have nothing but praise, admiration and gratefulness for the services we are lucky enough to have within a 10 minute drive. My hat goes off to you all |
