This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

and how about the flower bed?
will it be re-built with stone that is in-keeping with the area, i'm guessing as it is in a conservation area it will have to be.
but also will it be replanted?

Taking the island out has made the road wider meaning the trafic lights have not been used as much as otherwise - therefore helping local traders who have had a miserable time with road works in the past.

Do people remember the rounabout at the road end let`s go back to that so trafic going through silsden from Bolton road have to slow to give way and while we are making changes lets put a mini roundabout by the kings arms on to Bolton road.

The car will give you an idea of the date when there was a roundabout at the junction of Kirkgate/Brigate/Bolton Road. Note the war memorial.

I was disturbed to note what could be classed as a hint of racism in Skippy's earlier post i.e.

"coby1 ive been trying for a roundabout at bell square for over 13 years but it seems to fall on deaf ears within bradford maybe were the wrong colour here in silsden"

Surely we should expect better from a local councillor !shocked 8O

I think he means the green rural areas around the edge of "Bradford" dont get anything whilst the grey drab areas in central Bradford get everything they ask for.

Is Silsden the only town in "Bradford" that does not have a roundabout?

Steeton & Addingham do not have roundabouts in the villages only on the major roads serving them.

Whilst you try to make the "green field" argument soud OK, I think Skippy means more like every thing is not Black and White or have we entered a grey/brown area

Skippy's statement is a failure on the part of the authorities to be seen to be acting fairly. Not helped by past tales of a name change gaining an interview where the previous application with another named failed. This of course is a two way argument, but two wrongs do not a right make and it is not the sort of thing our leaders should be getting up to.
Unfortunately while low level 'racism' using the term 'offcumden, for that is what it is acceptable, comments are made when the term 'colour' is used.
Actually it is a load of baloney.

We are all members of the human race. Kicking the dog is racist. Towards another member of the human race in cannot be racist!!!!

Black actually refers to shades of brown.
White refers to pink towards light tan.

Not much chance of any solution tough while such basic ignorance still prevails.

Thanks for that 'gazzer'.

Old local photographs fascinate me, it's a pity that we haven't somewhere for a permanent gallery of them in Silsden.

Just to remind all you "lucky" people who may get a copy of the disk - I don't know the copyright status of the pictures.

Please don't publish any of them unless you know they have no copyright.
