i've had to do the same ranting and cancelling contracts again! they're on the prowl as we speak. got home tonight to find out that they'd conned my mother into a ludicrously expensive deal on windows that didn't need replacing.she wanted to phone me but they were rather pushy. it's my house and she is a senile eighty six year old.i rang to cancel the contract and a very nice man understood.that's not the point though. how many others are getting conned? if you have elderly relatives make sure they are aware and don't let these criminals in.i only wish my mother would learn. |

It's not just the old that have trouble with them me and the wife are in our 20's and have had them round.....never again! I'm not joking the salesman was here for going on 3 hours before we got him down to a dirt cheap price (he knocked over 75 percent off the original over inflated price). Then a 'surveyor' came round the next day and said the windows couldn't be fitted because they couldn't get glass big enough.....what a load of b@llocks. Brunskills or Aire Valley any day over them. |

The easiest way to get rid of these people, and it has worked for me every time, is to tell them that it is rented property and you are the tenants. They don't know what to say and leave. |

the 'rented property' excuse is brilliant if you're not in your mid eighties and suffering from dementia unfortunately. |

Stapletons (is that how you spell it?) here in Silsden are really good lads. They did ours ten years ago for a really good price and gave us a ten year guarantee. This turned out to be worth it's weight in gold recently when the seal on some of the units broke down and they misted up inside. Stapleton's changed them, no fuss, no hassle, no cost, TEN YEARS AFTER THE FIRST INSTALLATION!!
I doubt you'd get many companies do that, even if they were still around after ten years.
In our other house we had SafeStyle and after a couple of hours of saying we weren't interested we got him down to a fair price. They turned up to do the job but realised they'd brought the wrong glass as one pane was as big as a shop window! So they had to come back another day, wasting me two days off work instead of just the one. |

We had are double glazing carried out by a very local firm. Went bust soon afterwards. Win some lose some.
Having said that when I had the facia done I picked three out yellow pages, all relatively local. Quotes were within 10% of each other, which did not make it easy choosing. Even so, they were all half the price of those pestering nationals.
Job was OK by the way. |
