Hi Are you an artist/creative worker and would you like the chance of a studio space in Silsden? I am investigating the possibility of setting up artists studio spaces in silsden. this is at the very beginning stages and other aspects might be involved eg gallery for showing work etcetera. I'll explain a little bit more about the idea. the idea is to rent a space in former mill premises in Silsden which can be developed into artists' studios and possibly a gallery space. I don't know if you are familiar with the artists' studios in Keighley Business Centre or if you know the South Square Gallery in Thornton? Gideon Seymour who works for Creative Bradford would help us in the choosing and negotiating for the premises. (this has been done before in other locations). At this time, I am trying to gather information and this involves testing if there are enough people who would want to take up a space. Like you I want a studio in Silsden at reasonable rent and want to work in a community of other people as I think it helps to get other people's input. If you know of anyone else who might be interested, please ask them to get in touch. What kind of work do you do? Let's hope this gets off the ground and thankyou for your interest. Pat |

First step is assessing how much take-up there would be of spaces. so far I have just posted on this website but will also post on the Fabric bulletin and may put a notice up in the library. Other groups/individuals in Silsden have been saying (informally on the local grapevine!)that it would be terrific if the town could have its own arts and community centre, to bring together music, theatre,photography,art, youth groups,museum etc under one roof. Lots of ideas buzzing about. Perhaps 2010 mightbe a good year for everyone to get together to see how feasible this is? |
