Maybe we can start to clean up different areas on a rotation system? I think it is unrealistic to expect anyone to give up more than one day a month. And I am sure people would get fed up if help is requested too frequently.
Any suggestions of specific ideas of where we might tackle would be welcome though. |

Thanks to Gamekeeper for turning up and helping I am only sorry I couldn't go further along the bank (we went to the swing bridge on Burinthwaite Bridge Lane and then down Hainsworth Road we were planning to go to the sing bridge towards kildwick but I have injured legs).
We found lots of general rubbish, discarded drinks cans, glass jam jars, and lots of lots of bagged up dog poo's shoved in the walls.
Considering there are bins at the swingbridge and at the little cut through from the canal bank to hainsworth road at the corner of those new houses on Canal Side there really is no excuse for not carrying your litter to the nearest bin.
We were thanked for our efforts by some of the residents on the canal bank and some of the walkers and cyclists using the tow path. It was good to see a few dog walkers too who were being sensible and carrying there little bagges of mess to the bins, if only we could persaude everyone to do this. |
