This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Excessively loud live music at the Red Lion last night, residents of St.Johns Street not amused. We had to close all our windows on a warm humid evening just to hear our TV. The noise would have been much less had the landlord ensured that all doors & windows at the pub were kept closed. Bradford Council's Noise Nuisance Team were informed. The Red Lion should bear in mind what happened to the Robin Hood when they persisted with live music with no regard for their nearby residents.

what happened to robin hood? I suppose if its a one off fair enough but I suspect that it will be a regular occurrance because of the target age group.
When I went past there yesterday afternoon, there was a transit van parked half on and half off the pavement whilst they unloaded their booze, the traffic was chaos because directly opposite the van was a parked car therefore road was narrowed to one lane and the bus was trying to get through.I thought there was a time restriction on loading and unloading.Maybe the owners need to take heed of that before they start getting peoples backs up.

Ginjo, the Robin held weekly live music sessions over a considerable period of time. After numerous complaints from nearby residents Bradford Council assessed noise decibel levels at the site & these were found to be above acceptable levels. The Robin was required to keep all doors & windows closed during live music sessions but after repeatedly ignoring these requirements I believe the publican was fined for non-compliance & eventually lost his live music licence.

You could hear the Red Lion up Craven Drive, so what it was like nearer, I dread to think.

As for the gala fair - wouldn't be so bad if it was for one or three days, but their sod ding generator(s) running near 24hrs a day for a close to a week is getting more than a touch annoying in this good weather.

Telling me it was a local band for local people! Everyone local to the Silsden locality could hear 'em whether they actually wanted to or not! Even the fair shuts down its loud music at a sensible time.

Thing is, as mentioned above, if half of Silsden complains to council, then there'll be no noise, loud or not.

Is it just moaning though? Is commenting on all the dog sh*t moaning? Is questioning the need and proposals of new houses just moaning?
This is a forum for EXACTLY those issues..
