just gone past our local petrol station and fuel has gone up 2p a litre when all the others ive seen have dropped prices by 1p,its alright going on about using local services but getting continuously ripped off is not my idea of decent value, its 5p a litre less as close as keighley thats a mind boggling 25p per gallon, which most folk would go to fill up in bfd never mind kly,i know we av a choice where we go and im one for using local businesses but this rip off is beyond robbery |

Knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing is very common. |

Wouldn't miss that garage....expensive, dirty, old pumps, air pump doesn't work properly. Needs a re-vamp badly, I'm afraid. So it's off to Asda again for a fillup when I pass it. Just because it's local doesn't mean it can get complacent. |

I use it if I'm nearly empty and it's convenient, ie I'm not going toward Kly but into the dales etc, and I just put a few quid in.
If I'm filling up I'd definitely go out of Silsden just on principle. I don't mind paying a little bit more for convenience but I object and feel ripped off if it's several pence more per litre so I take my custom where I feel I get better value.
I don't suppose we're in danger of loosing the Silsden filling station, if we were I dare say they'd drop their prices. |

I'm afraid that petrol prices are going to go up and up this year, with planned fuel tax increases in particular, starting 1st April. Estimates are that average unleaded will be 123p by the end of the year, and diesel will no doubt be higher still. The government are pressed for cash, and motorists are an easy touch. That means that the garage in Silsden will probably be 128p, as it seems to keep about 5p ahead of the average. Sad news all round, get the bicycles out! |

stick with Asda, you won't go far wrong, never mind local guy who overcharges you, he is only out for himself. It's strange that he doesn't understand....maybe he gets most of his business from passing trade, not locals? |

talking of local car repairs, I have used a small local garage (who have an advert on this site) for the last 3/4 years, and they are great. Good service, competitive prices, good workmanship, always helpful....I would not go anywhere else. |

These threads make me smile
Anyone ever thought that the supermarkets can buy the fuel cheaper from the distributors 'cos they benefit from nationally organised discounts? And smaller places, buying only a few thousand litres a week, cannot? Economies of scale and all that.
Or did you all think it gets given out free, or supplied on a sale or return basis?
Easy choice tho - you don't want to pay the price, then don't . . . just like any other commodity. I also missed the rules that say that just because a place is "local", it should be cheap for "locals" . . . It is a business after all.
I use it as I can't be bothered stopping in Keighley on the way to work on a morning, and I don't come back through the chaos that is Keighley on an evening. Few pence is worth it for the lack of hassle.
