does anyone know if the burger van is going to be a permanent visitor and does he have a license to be there? Not the sort of thing we need in silsden I wouldn't have thought. |

Cant see a problem.A Silsden lad having a go at a service and from what I have seen clears up any mess afterwards unlike some of the established takeaways in town |

the problem arises if he does not have a license, if he does I am very suprised bearing in mind how strict the council are over colours and signage etc. at shops and restaurants. Burger vans generally attract anti social behaviour and I do not think it is in keeping with a conservation area especially as it is parked right next to the duck pond!! what an eyesore just makes the place look even more down market |

wouldnt have thought someone would be so passionate about a burger van.
local chap who owns it just trying to provide a friendly service for those out and about on a friday night, cant see it how it could possibly attract trouble. cheaper and better than the dodgy takeaways down the road....i'll be purchasing a burger on friday thats for sure. |

I don't know what evidence you have to back this up........
I used to use the burger/kebab van in the central carpark in Ilkley many moons ago. I visited a year ago and it was still there and going strong. Can't see the Olicanians being too happy letting it carry on if it was an eyesore... Re the anti social behaviour back then, yes there was the odd scuffle but that was down to the drink not the burgers, kebabs or the van. |

Why rather than questioning the legality of the siting, do the posters not approach Birdey, who is running the business and ask the question ?
As far as I know he has all the relevant hygiene certificates etc. all the products are locally sourced from Shops in Silsden, which is good for local business.
As for the comment regarding the siting by the duckpond in a "conservation area", is it not better that the van can be removed at the end of the night rather than remain there like the numerous indian, pizza and chinese takeaways all of which are in a conservation area ?
You can't get fish & chips or anything remotely English in Silsden after 8pm'ish. So i sa good look to Birdy, keep the griddle cracking.
(By the way I have tried the van and the food and the service is spot on) |

It also meets the green agenda ie locally produced bought locally. Most takeaway foods have travelled many miles up and down motorways or even further afield. |

Can't we leave the poor burger van alone, if he uses local produce, tidies up, and goes home what's the harm? I'd rather have several burger vans than all the takeways we have in the town now! |

I had a burger from him the other week everything in the van was clean the burger tasted great with hot sauce no one was being anti social around it and if hes a local guy good luck to him providing an economical alternative to the curry/pizza/chinese places thumbs up |

ange don't see the relevance of your question but the answer is yes. Obviously no one on this site agrees with me although not many people contribute! I have no objections to someone trying to make a living, just suprised to see it parked on a sunday afternoon by the duck pond.Maybe it would be better if it parked in the car park? less of an obstruction there. |

Hi, Haven't all the people who are moaning about a buger van, got nothing better to do? The van is there on a friday night from what i have seen, how can that be an eyesore? Its not stopping traffic, there is never any mess left over the day after its been there! Why cant people stop whining about insignificant things? The bloke who runs the van is from silsden, and has probably lived in silden for the majority of his life. He is selling local produce at good prices! There is more mess left outside the local takeaways. People who dont like it should maybe consider moving to pastures new? The problem with silsden is people dont like change. They should conserve their energy and go and try one of his burgers!!!!! |

Well said "betarick"!
AND he doesn't park delivery vans ILLEGALLY on the pedestrian crossings like the takeaways do!
We should support LOCAL people trying to earn a living in the town! |

Agreed, come of the take aways I wouldn't go in as they just don't look clean from the outside. I dread to think what the back yards of the places look like.
The best way to get them to clean up is call Environmental Health or hit them where it hurts and stop buying from them. |

Nice if he is. It would be even nicer if he were to give a little of his profits to the gala fund; like the stalls and funfair will be doing up on the green. |

Well there's not much competition, the takeaways are filthy, and the chip shops are never open.
As previously stated he parks legally in a parking bay not obstructing anyone, what harm is the burger van doing exactly??? |

why dont you lot wondering if the lad has a licence just go visit the van and find out, you will find that he does have a licence. you should be thanking him for contributing to the local enomomy by buying all local produce!!! - i think you need to get out more if all you can do is whine about things like this! |

I don't know why you can't lay off him!
He's from Silsden and keeps the place tidy!
Most of the rest just want quick money out of the town with no respect for it! |

Do people ever stop moaning about petty little things throughout silsden? Dont you have something better to do?
I stopped at the van a few weeks back and its safe to say....he does a top burger!
