Topic : European Health Insurance Card Scam |
|
| grandad |
If you are looking on line to renew this card/ Beware; when I searched on line for it the first few sites I found; all said there was a fee of about £23, fortunately I looked further down and found the official site which said renewal was free, it is, www.nhs/healthcareabroad or telephone 0300 330 1350 |

Grandad, I very nearly did the same - in my case I had offered to apply for some of my over 18 children at the same time and so was faced with paying three fees - this prompted me to think twice and check up on another site first. Its very easily done - my daughter once booked a driving test in the same way and ended up paying about £12 more than she needed. They are very plausible. |

The card as you said is free. Don't forget to get normal insurance. The card is useless at the doctor's and dentist in France and probably the rest of europe. In France:- You will have to pay up front to see a doctor then claim it back either in France or UK. It will only give you free treatment in a state hospital and most hospitals in France are private and so are the specialsts. |
