Came through Silsden about 11.30am And Ambulance and two police cars by the Methodist Church. Traffic was backed up down Keighley road as far as Habasit Rossi. Hope no one is seriously hurt. Just wondered if someone tried to cross at the Pedestrian crossing and with no white markings on the road was hit by a vehicle. Makes it very risky when crossing so everyone should take extra care and make sure that the traffic has stopped before crossing. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) I saw a car skid to a halt last night, not going fast. There is a lot of loose gravel about. The advised 20mph is quite fast enough for going through Kirkgate at the moment. |

cllrs naylor huggins and myself met bruce andrews from bfd council highways last weds and stood him at this crossing to show how dangerous it can be, weve asked for all 3 crossings to be changed to puffin crossings, no money is the excuse budgets cuts, blahblahblah. well its not bloody good enough and we need to tell bfd that we are not prepared to put up with being treated as 2nd class citizens, we pay our fair share and whant some backNOW.they should stop waseting money on that big bloody hole in the centre of bradford and spend money at this end of the valley ![]() ![]() i hope the elderly lady is ok. |

Maybe time to follow Crosshills and Addingham in having 20mph speed limits in the town, long overdue. If we did this, plus some attention from the police to catch initial offenders, it would send out a clear message. The puffin crossings should also go in as skippy says. Anyone who watches the crossing outside Betfred knows that someone is going to be killed there, under the eye of our CCTV camera! |

Dexter yes to a 20mph throughout the Town, but the police can't be everywhere, so how about plenty of yellow boxes with speed cameras in them, with ALL of the revenue coming back into Silsden to pay for even more improvements? That way we should get the new puffins in just a few months. |

The problem I have with the big yellow boxes is that they don't work... They are installed to reduce speeding!! They take lots of photos and fines are sent out. Months or even years later they are still generating lots of fines (as suggested by Grandad) If they worked they would be taking no photos???? |

North Yorkshire Police dont use fixed speed cameras but if we were policed by them you could bet, like Skipton you would see traffic police officers everyday which is more effective than just using cameras |

A very low speed impact according to a bystander - the pedestrian was well enough to be talking to the driver afterwards. Doesn't sound like she was badly hurt |

How about "No Right Turns" out of Elliot Street & Ings Road at the Clog Bridge while we're at it? - Or traffic lights? - Or maybe just a Pelican Crossing with a BIG yellow hatched box area would do the trick? . |

I feel certain there will be more people getting run over if the crossings are not remarked as cars are not stopping whrn they see anyone standing waiting to cross now. |

ere have you seen weve now got half a crossing outside the townhall mind half is better than none |
|

skippy...you are right to bring this up, and there still patches in the street which have not been done. What is going on? |

it was the lady that lives next door to me that got hit on monday on the crossing. she had to go to hospital but all ok , badly brused she rang bmc and then a couple of hours later half the crossing was showing again and that they are meant to be sending some out to finish them off, |
|
| pumbajunior |
how can you have half a crossing its stupid an absolute joke |
|
| grandad |
Baldybogey, they do work! they either make lots of money or in some cases the offenders have a choice of getting a fine and 3 points or attending a speed awareness course, the ones who attend will hopefully change their ways and the ones who get points and still speed will eventualy get enough points to loose their licence. |

when you use a crossing you should still look right look left then right again people do not do this? they just walk straight out on to the crossing expecting cars to stop for them. |
|
| Dodzi |
Got to disagree with you there they don't work - its just revenue generation. Its not speed that kills but bad driving. And as for lowering the speed limit. If they aint slowing down to the 30mph speed limit they aint gonna do it for a 20mph. |
|
| pumbajunior |
sad but true Dodzi the problem is fear people have nothing left to fear there are no coppers to pull you to book people do as they please this morning i was trying to go up cottingley by bankfield hotel on bypass (roadwoirks at nabwood) yellow box on roundabout people blocking it i was sounding the horn to point out there error and pointing to the yellow box i got abuse from 2 drivers and they still kept coming and parking on it |

Localman, maybe the pedestrians don't always stop because, Rule 195 in the Highway Code; in the advice to drivers section states, . Look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross. . You MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto the crossing. Therefore every driver should approach a zebra crossing at a speed which they can stop at all times. |

And maybe find out when the line markings will be completed. |
