This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

i thought trick or treat wasn't until tonight and that you were given a choice between trick or treat.
some unpleasant person has smeared the drivers side of my car with some sticky red substance[ ? jam] luckily i noticed it before it got smeared on my clothes.
A couple of weeks ago the wing mirror was removed and smashed.
When these incidents have happened my car is parked on my drive. Is my car being targeted by the same unpleasant people?
What can i do?

where in silsden ? luckily the forecast is for rain tonight so hopefully the trick or treaters won't come out, they are a nuisance, I don't object to kids having a halloween party at home but I do object to them knocking on doors when you are trying to relax on an evening it is intimidating and is blackmail really I wish parents would stop encouraging there kids

Smiffykat - If my car was being targeted often I would set up a CCTV camera. They are inexpensive nowadays and if you go to www.maplins.co.uk you will find a wide range of them for sale. Alternatively if you have a camcorder, set it up on a tripod in the window and leave it running overnight.

What part of Silsden is this happening? Have you reported it?

Certain areas of Silsden are increasingly experiencing this kind of abuse. A camcorder or cctv might be the answer, although why are we paying for a police force - Setting up our own monitoring equipment, incurring financial penalties along the way?

In recent events posted on this site, it would appear that nothing or very little has come of teh usage of monitoring equipment.

It would appear that acts of vandalism/destruction can be perpetrated anywhere in this area, with little or no chance of the perpetrators being caught or facing the consequences of their actions!!!!

But it's alright! We can have a new police commissioner! That will solve everything, including police on patrol, speeding motorists through the town, littering, flytipping, people destroying historic landmarks.

I think the police have given up on silsden, never see any apart from last saturday afternoon when they closed the road for 5 hours.Looking at the crimes in this area on police .uk nearly all of the outcomes were no action taken no wonder crime occurs when no one is punished, the police are supposed to be there to serve the community from my experience that is not happening and when you see how some police officers behave on the documentary programmes its no wonder they have lost the respect of a lot of people.Maybe vigilantes is the answer

hi
thank you for your replies. The area is behind coop, Sackville/ Spencer ave.
I did report the wing mirror to the police - not a lot they can do .
I don't object to trick or treat , i have a bag of sweets ready for this evening [ not dipped in mustard]but last evenings nasty trick has made me anxious about what to expect tonight.

The police crime website shows quite a bit of antisocial calls up behind the coop month on month, are there issues up there with kids / adults causing problems? Thought it was ok up there...
