IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Fancy a bit of community archaeology? |
|
| Peter |
Watershed Landscape, part of Pennine Prospects, are carrying out various archaeological investigations in the area studying the industrial past. We are working with groups on Todmorden Moor, Baildon Moor and in your area Oxenhope Moor. As leader for Oxenhope Moor I am carrying out a survey of old quarry workings. As this is a community archaeology project we are providing training in basic archaeolgical survey skills for interested volunteers. We aim to teach how to survey landscapes, buildings, etc by hand without expensive kit so groups like yours would have members able to carry out projects of your own in the future. Have you several members who are willing to give up a day a week to be involved in ongoing archaeological work relevant to the Keighley area in the next few weeks? For more details pleas contact me.
